Burress posts $100K bail on weapons charges
Plaxico Burress has appeared in court on weapons possession charges stemming from an accidental shooting at a Manhattan nightclub. Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Felicia Mennin set bail at $100,000 and ordered Burress to return March 31. Defense lawyer Benjamin Brafman argued for no bail, saying: "He has 35 million reasons to come back to court" - referring to his $35 million contract with the Giants.
Plax hit with weapon charge; Pierce under scrutiny
Plaxico Burress was led out of a police precinct in handcuffs Monday after surrendering on a weapons possession charge, and authorities said that teammate Antonio Pierce is being investigated over his role in an accidental shooting at a Manhattan nightclub.
Harvin improving, still in doubt for SEC title game
Florida's Percy Harvin limped around campus in a protective boot Monday and showed improvement, but coach Urban Meyer said his star receiver remained questionable for the Southeastern Conference championship game. Lance will ride in 2009 Tour de France
Lance Armstrong will ride in the 2009 Tour de France, marking the first time he will compete in that race and the Giro d'Italia in the same year. "I'm committed to riding for the best guy," Armstrong said Monday, acknowledging the taxing schedule could leave him riding in a supporting role in France. Armstrong's Astana team includes 2007 Tour winner Alberto Contador and is loaded with other talented riders.
