That seems like a very fair trade offer. The cap hit sucks, but he doesn't want to be there. Even teammates are saying he should probably go.
I don't hate Chad Johnson like some do. In fact, I think he's good for the NFL -- makes it more interesting. But his time in Cincy should be over. |
|
After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up! |

I don't know...it depends on how you look at it. Face value, I don't think it's fair. I think he's worth at least two first rounders. Do you consider the potential holdout and drama in part of that evaluation? If so, then I can see that, maybe.

| Mark my words, Chad Johnson will get traded, but not until Draft Day. Why would they want to show their cards this early in case there are couple of guys they are wanting to latch hold of in the 1st round. Mike Brown can't be THAT stupid to keep him just for spite. |

| I don't know, I think Chad Johnson might blink first, in fact, I know he will with that kind of jack on the table. |

I guess I don't understand. Blink first for what? He wants out, and can't get out without the blessing of Mike Brown. Johnson has 2 options. (1) Play (2) Sit out. Well a third option would be retire, but that ain't happening.
Is he going to blink and agree to play? If that is the case.....you're going to have a publicly disgruntled player who may or may not play to his ability.....and who would be a cancer in the locker room. At that point, your going to pay a player just to make sure everyone knows he didn't get the best of you? When in actuality, he did, by getting paid to do nothing.
If I'm Mike Brown.....I make the trade on draft day. |

| Exactly, he has two options, play or sit out. Cincy takes the salary cap hit for him in 2008 now no matter what, so if I am Cincy I let him sit and pout a LONG time and think about it. I've got until the trade deadline in the fall to unload him. |

Just another case where billion-dollar talent has a 10-cent brain.
If I'm Mike Brown, I take it a step further...play the "conduct detrimental to team" card and suspend him indefinitely, just as the Philadelphia Eagles did with Terrell Owens when he was pulling this same sh*t...THEN cut him at the trade deadline or find some schmuck owner (Dan Snyder, the Ford family, the Bidwells) to trade their No. 1 pick for him. |

| Yeah, I was thinking that too...although, I am not sure he has enough for that yet. However, like I said, they take the 2008 cap hit anyway, so there is no rush to trade Chad and they can make his life painful for a LONG time. |

I guess I can see it from that perspective, and I think logically, the conduct issue would be the reason to sit him out this year. But if you are going to allow HIM to decide if he plays or not, I think that's just asking for trouble. If that's how you're going to handle it.......cut him loose now and get your value for him. If you wait, what do you get? |

| They could always wait until he gets arrested at a Cincinnati nightclub...then he could pull a Kenyon Keith (I'm a Cincinnati Bengal, I'm a Cincinnati Bengal, don't you know me? I'm Ocho F***ING Cinco, dammit). |

Talk about a classic, type-A, stereotypical, blow hard. Greatness between the lines seems to have some unbreakable knack of not being related to the person performing the athletic feat.
It almost always seems the one with grace on the field rarely has any remnant of class off it... |

The thing that kills me most about Chad, and I even generally like the guy although he's slipped significantly with me recently, is that he isn't that great.
All-pro? Sure, he's very good, no question a top end WR in the NFL, but I still don't call him "great". I'd say maybe he is leading the pack behind the greats...

| If you watched the games last year, housh got the ball alot because johnson was being double teamed constantly. Im a steelers fan and hate the bengals and i know for a fact that johnson is a very good receiver who got double teamed which opens it up for housh |

For a guy like Chad, who toutes being the best, a little double team shouldn't be stopping him. Whosyourmamma is a much more physical receiver, and in my mind, the best on and for the team. And I know for a fact that I feel that way. |

| yes housh is a more physical receiver, but he was not double teamed until late in the year, and johnson still put up good numbers last year. Wait this year and see how housh does getting double teamed and then i will call him a better receiver |

Housh has taken longer to develop into the player he is...right now, all things considered, I take Housh without a thought. The slight production advantage wouldn't offset the drama mentality Chad brings to the the table.
Chad's good, but like I said, he's not the best...he's at best, the best of the second tier players and that may be questionable. |
