ok, so once again i am in my cube with nothing to do. I have already read every news story of foxnews, cnn, and espn. I am tired of reading the the stadium debate forum, and i think this board need something a little more fun to debate. And Since baseball just started up, lets go with greatest baseball movie, and best baseball comedy. With greatest basball movie, i am torn between The Natural and Field of Dreams, but i am leaning more towards The Natural. For baseball comedy i have Major League, and Bull Durham, and this one i cannotdecide between. Any Thoughts on great baseball movies?? please dicuss, and if anyone brings up Rookie of the Year, you are a retard

Angels in the Outfield?

Actually, my two favorite baseball movies are:

1. Bull Durham
2. The Sandlot

Counting the Herd one hoof at a time.

If I had to pick a favorite serious baseball movie it'd be The Natural, hands down.

Favorite funny baseball movie would be Major League.

Bull Durham is good, but I hate Susan Sarandon.

I love Bull Durham, but watching it now is kind of a letdown because I thought Susan Sarandon was SMOKING HOT in that film and now she just looks like an old weathered, leftist hag . . . kind of like Bette Davis with bigger eyes and a political agenda.

Field of Dreams reminds me a lot of how much I used to enjoy the game as a kid -- the scene where Costner plays catch with the ghost of his dad reminded me of the times my dad and I used to play catch in the backyard when I was a kid.

The Natural is a great movie, but for some reason I never really got into it that much. Don't know if it has something to do with Kim Basinger being in it or not...I thought she peaked as an actress with that masturbation scene in 9 1/2 Weeks. Did she do anything meaningful after that???

Major League has always been a great movie, especially Bob Uecker's antics in the press box and the reaction Charlie Sheen has after unkowingly sleeping with his teammate's wife ("I didn't know. I swear to God."). They could have left well enough alone with that and not made Major League II.

I always thought A League Of Their Own was funny, but not because of the movie itself. The fact that two outstanding actors like Tom Hanks and Geena Davis were in the same movie as Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell was high unintentional comedy...like having Michael Jordan and Magic Jordan on the same basketball team as Benoit Benjamin and Christian Laettner.

Bad News Bears for worst for me. (I know that would be many peoples favorite) I just found the whole thing unappealling.

Found this quote on a Top Ten site: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/moviebat.shtml

"Can you even name ten movies with basketball or football as a major theme? After "Hoop Dreams" and "Brian's Song," what have you got? "The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh" and "Necessary Roughness" is what." - Will Lingo of Baseball America

That's kind of dumb...I actually was able to list off more football themed movies than baseball just quickly off the top of my head.

I wasn't trying to change the topic. I was merely commenting on a dumb quote from a baseball related movie site.

What was the football movie where Kathy Ireland was the placekicker for the local college team?

And why aren't there more supermodels playing roles like these in bad sports movies???
