Chris Long

That's right, I am disagree with the majority of ESPN voters, 29% of 58,362 as of this moment and saying I don't see Matt Ryan happening.

Interestingly Jake Long, Chris Long and McFadden are all tied right around 20% of the vote.

All I know is if I have a #1 pick and I don't get a strong sense with a QB being a Peyton Manning caliber player...I don't bust a #1 overall on him when you have the quality out there that there is in this crop of top picks.

I take Jake Long. It's the safest pick, and that's what Miami needs right now. Look at how much Cleveland improved last year, and the only significant offensive addition was Joe Thomas. A great O-linemen can change the whole offense.

Given what Miami would have to pay Matt Ryan, and since he's not a sure-fire guy, I don't take the risk there.

Don't take McFadden either. You've got Ronnie Brown, who was exceptional before he went down. I'd look to trade down to get extra picks, but not sure that is possible. It'd be nice if the NFL had a rookie salary structure like the NBA, so these rookies don't break the bank before proving anything on the next level. Union would never let that happen though.

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

I would go with Jake too as my first overall, but I get the feeling that Tuna may lean toward Chris.

And, besides, if I'd of said it'll be Jake...I'd have to live with Crit calling me a homer again...I can't bear the thought.

I think Matt Ryan is maybe worthy of a 8 - 14ish pick at best.

All good choices....I say Glenn Dorsey, LSU. Parcells loves defense and either Long or Dorsey will be his choice IMO.

I think Chris Long........I think he is probably the safest pick in the draft. Jake Long.....maybe, but do you remember Robert Gallery drafted No. 1 by the Raiders. When you're going to be forking out that much cash, I think you want as close to a lock as you can get, and IMO that person is Chris Long.

Midge....I think you're a homer no matter what, so just let your conscience guide you.

Actually McFadden most likely won't go until the 4th or 5th pick - even with his immense raw talent.

The value you speak of is where true scouting comes into play because of the fact each year we get the "Coach speak" when it is all done Miami will use McFadden as a bargaining chip. Wait and see.

I don't think McFadden is nearly as desired as the media is making him out to be. Especially with the talent available in the RB pool. Personally, if I need a top end RB I am just as happy with a Mendenhall or Stuart.

I am not buying into the combine hype and I think a lot of teams aren't quite as concerned about combine results as analysts think. I say that because the few times you get a glimpse of Tune or other NFL people in personnel evaluating positions get on TV that's generally the sentiment.

I think a lot of people have visions of AP dancing in their head with McFadden.

It would seem logical that if that were Miami's strategy, they would be talking up how McFadden is tops on their short list.....and I guess I haven't seen that. In order to use him as a bargaining chip, teams that really want him really need to believe he will not be on the board come their selection.

I don't know whether McFadden will live up to the hype, but I thought McFadden was a better college back than Adrian Peterson, and we all see what he did in the pros. Personally, I hate to be the team that passes up on him. But I understand why Miami will -- they have needs almost everywhere....except RB.

I think the other problem with that scenario is three-fold:

1. I don't think there is an obvious #1. I think depending on who you are McFadden, J. Long, C. Long or Matt Ryan (even though I disagree with him) are potential top picks.

2. There is depth at RB. No one NEEDS to run out and grab a RB top prospect with quality draft depth behind Mcfadden (Mendenhall, Stewart prior to his surgery, stock falling).

3. Most teams that need RB have other needs they can meet with quality picks respective to where they are for the most part.

Personally I don't see him as better than AP, but I do like his NFL potential similarly to the way I did with AP.

And, AP's success was largely attributed to his situation.

I agree that there is depth at RB and no one NEEDS to go out and grab one early. BUT....that's the exact same scenario from last year, when Minnesota -- who didn't need a RB -- grabbed A.P., the best rookie in the draft, and now one of the best in the NFL. Just my opinion, but I have a feeling the same regret will be had by many teams this year who pass up McFadden.

Ok, I don't disagree with that, but I still don't see how that would dictate Miami using McFadden as a bargaining chip.

They grabbed AP because it was a no-brainer. I would expect, say if McFadden fell to Oakland, that they would grab him for the same reason. But I don't see anyone working a deal with Miami to trade up to #1 for him...

I don't see it either. That was Crit that said that, and he's an Iowa fan, so you know.....

McFadden will probably bust now that I've given him such praise. The 3 best RBs I've ever seen in college, that I thought would be incredible Pros (i.e. HOF'ers) were:

1. Tyrone Wheatley
2. Kijana Carter
3. Lawrence Phillips

McFadden is now the next Blair Thomas.

Yeah, I know what you are saying...ironically, the only one of those I had a bad feeling about in the NFL was Wheatley. I am not sure why, but I remember distinctly thinking he would bust.

Actually, it wasn't me, it was Tim. My post was in response to his comment that Tuna was going to use McFadden as a bargaining chip and I just don't see that happening. Unfortunately I agree with Midge, AGAIN. WTF is going on?
