Kansas 45, Iowa State 7 Kansas put away Iowa State as the Jayhawks now look toward the biggest Border Showdown in history with arch-rival Missouri with Big 12 and national title hopes at stake. Kansas has not won a share of any type of football championship in 39 years and have moved to 11-0 for the first time in school history. Todd Reesing was 21-of-26 for 253 yards with 4 TDs. Jake Sharp had 15 carries for 83 yards and Dexton Fields had 11 catches for 109 yards and two scores. For ISU, Bret Meyer was 16 of 28 for 103 yards. Alexander Robinson had 20 carries for 54 yards and a score and also had 6 catches for 15 yards. KU totaled 566 yards of total offense and allowed 234 yards to the Cyclones. The KU offense is on such a roll, that backup quarterback Kerry Meier came in and caught three passes for 41 yards and a score and also was 9-of-9 passing for 101 yards and another score. The offense is ultra-efficient. Now we'll find out how good the Jayhawks really are with two tough, tough games coming up against Missouri and a potential Big 12 title game. Win out, and KU is playing for a national championship. Iowa State closes out its season being blown out by Kansas, but then again, who hasn't been. This young team really started to turn a corner in the second half of the season and will build on Alexander Robinson in the off-season to advance the offense. The defense needs to find something it can do consistently well. Missouri 49, Kansas State 32 Jeremy Maclin scored three touchdowns and had 252 yards of total offense to set the NCAA single-season freshman record for all-purpose yardage to help the Tigers beat the Wildcats. It was the first time Missouri won in Manhattan since 1989 and is only the second time since 1960 that a Missouri team has gotten to 10 wins in a season. It is also the first time that Mizzou has had six conference wins in a year since 1969. Chase Daniel was 28-of-41 for 284 yards with 4 TDs. Tony Temple had 16 carries for 75 yards and 2 TDs. And Maclin had 9 catches for 143 yards and 2 TDs. For KSU, Josh Freeman was 26-of-41 for 256 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. James Johnson had 22 carries for 172 yards and a score and Jordy Nelson had 8 grabs for 94 yards and a TD. Mizzou gained 427 yards of total offense and allowed 406 yards to K-State. Missouri contines to roll. Chase Daniel continues to play nearly flawless, Tony Temple is providing solid production and the X-factor Jeremy Maclin is producing in huge ways and is becoming an elite playmaker. The Kansas State defense played well, but the offense (especially the passing game) didn't get going until the fourth quarter, and by then the game was already decided. KSU now needs to win its final game at Fresno State to become bowl eligible, and even then might need a little help to reach a 13th game. Oklahoma State 45, Baylor 14 Oklahoma State became bowl eligible with the win over Baylor. With the loss, Baylor finished the season winless in the Big 12 and was also the last game coached by Guy Morris at the university. Morris ended his career at Baylor going 18-40 overall and 7-33 in Big 12 games in five years. It is the 12th consecutive losing season for Baylor and the Bears are the only Big 12 team that has never been to a bowl game since the league was formed. It is also the fourth time since 1996 that Baylor went winless in conference play. Only two other teams have gone 0-8 in the Big 12 -- Kansas in 2002 and Iowa State in 2003. This will be the fifth bowl appearance in six years for the Cowboys, a first for the OSU program. Zac Robinson was 16 of 21 for 202 yards with 2 TDs and also had 17 carries for 144 yards and 2 TDs. Dantrell Savage also had 109 yards and two TDs rushing. Seth Newton had 4 catches for 62 yards and a score in the win. For Baylor, Blake Szymanski was 29 of 40 for 226 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Brandon Whitaker had 11 carries for 79 yards and Thomas White had 9 catches for 68 yards and two scores. Baylor gained 309 yards of total offense and allowed 545 yards to OSU. OSU was effective offensively, got into the backfield defensively and won easily. Now the Cowboys are hoping to be just as effective next week to ruin Oklahoma's Big 12 South dream. The Guy Morris era is now over. He gave it a try by trying to spread the ball around like Texas Tech, but it never quite clicked. This team is built around passing the ball, but the next coach will have to first figure out how to stop the run in order to be more competitive in Big 12 play. Texas Tech 34, Oklahoma 27 Texas Tech knocked Sam Bradford out of the game early with an injury, and with it also knocked the Sooners out of the national championship race. It was the 11th time this season that an unraked beat a top 5 ranked team. Graham Harrell was 47-of-72 for 420 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Aaron Crawford had 12 carries for 47 yards with a TD and Michael Crabtree had 12 catches for 154 yards and 1 TD. Joey Halzle came in for OU in relief and was 21 of 41 for 291 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. DeMarco Murray had 19 carries for 94 yards and Juaquin Iglesias had 7 catches for 73 yards. Tech gained 473 yards of total offense and allowed 408 yards to OU. Though the Tech offense played well, for 54 minutes the Red Raider defense was the star of this game, shutting down a usually efficient OU offense. Halzle found a groove late, but it was too late. The regular season couldn't have ended better for Tech as they finally got the big win of the year they have been looking for. The Red Raiders now have the confidence knowing they can play with, and beat, anyone in America. Oklahoma confirmed it is not the same team on the road as it is as home. The OU seconday also showed the holes that many thought were there for exploit. OU didn't commit to the run early enough and lost. Now the national title dreams are gone and a loss next week to Oklahoma State might cost the Sooners Big 12 south title hopes too. ============================================================= BIG 12 STANDINGS North Division 1. Kansas (11-0, 7-0) 2. Missouri (10-1, 6-1) 3. Colorado (5-6, 3-4) 4. Kansas State (5-6, 3-5) 5. Nebraska (5-6, 2-5) 6. Iowa State (3-9, 2-6) South Division 1. Oklahoma (9-2, 5-2) 1. Texas (9-2, 5-2) 3. Oklahoma State (6-5, 4-3) 4. Texas Tech (8-4, 4-4) 5. Texas A&M (6-5, 3-4) 6. Baylor (3-9, 0-8) The winner of the Missouri/Kansas game will win the North Division. If Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State OR Texas loses to Texas A&M, the Sooners will win the South. If OU loses and Texas wins, Texas will win the South Division. If OU loses to OSU and Texas loses, all three teams will finish 5-3 and all will be 1-1 against each other. All three would have a 3-2 record against South Division teams and all have the same record against teams in order of standing. The tie would be broken on BCS standing, which would likely give the South to Oklahoma. ============================================================ BIG 12 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK Co-Offensive Player of the Week - Graham Harrell, Texas Tech (QB) Graham Harrell passed for two scores and rushed for another in leading Texas Tech to a 34-27 win over No. 3 Oklahoma.
