| I'm middle class, no season tickets, thus not really a "big donor". My family and I do attend 1 game a year, spend the weekend in Lincoln, shop, eat, drink, "spend", buy Husker stuff, etc, all of which qualify me as a small donor. Husker nation needs a change, what in the HECK is going on there anyway. The stadium is "crumbling". This is a 6-6 year. Our AD should consider me as a "BIG DONOR" both my wife and I are NU alumni, and plan on sending our kids to NU, so what if we don't. What if we send them elsewhere, somewhere out of the "tax me state", "loser football program state". By my calculations, that's almost $150.000 thousand dollars for 2 kids 5 years each. CHANGE THE PROGRAM< IT AIN"T WORKIN, |

Why would you send your kids to a college on the basis of how good the football program is unless they are specifically going to school for that purpose? And unless you are contrinuting directly...you aren't even considered a small donor. A small donor would be like $2k per year going straight to the program. |

| What other reason would you send your kids to NU. Nebraska Football, why else would NU spend Millions a year, if it didn't matter. The program brings not only recruits but students. It's a tradition. Basically, anywhere you go, if you tell them you are from Nebraska, they know "Big Red" but how long will our reputation continue, I believe our current "mediocratic" program is destroying a big reason for NU notoriety. What else is there at Lincoln? Dick Cavett, spongy nascar barriers, "scientists", crime rate 2nd only to Omaha?. The big picture is, kids will be kids, and why go to a school known for nothing but corn and bad football. Especially when most neighboring states have reciprocity with Nebraska, students can attend most neighboring state colleges at an in-state tuition rate. GOD, why go to NU. |

You send them to college for an education. Based on your reply...they may not get accepted, so it's probably a moot point. |

Kdog, welcome to the board.
Please, please, please don't send your child to a college based on their football team. Please....

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up! |

Kdog,
Welcome to the fray. Let me first say that I can appreciate your disgruntlement with what NU's AD has done in Lincoln however, sending your kid to a school based on its athletic prowess, or lack thereof is a poor way to make a decision regarding your child's future.
Your overall sentiment is irrational and down right irresponsible. If NU meets your kids' educational needs and your financial needs, you ought to send them. If it doesn't then don't. But for goodness sakes, basing your decision on whether the football team goes 10-2 or 6-6 is just plain assinine. Sorry for the reality slap! |

Kdog, No doubt about it I can certainly tell you're definitely a Husker Fan. Don't be to hasty about pulling the youngins from their destiny at NU. If they have a hankerin to become a farmer or heavy equipment operator where else would you go but Nebraska? Don't let Pedey or Calliecan't spoil your childrens dreams! Keep the faith, it may get worse but having Callie around is good comedy! Here's the Dukesters prescription for what ails you, mix up a pitcher of Red Kook Aid and swig it down as quick as possible. In the event you get light headed and pass out don't fall over and break that set of Nebraska Ice Tea glasses with scenes from happier days you bought at Big Lots last week! |

WTF...... They have a bit more at that school than 'spongy barriers'. I have both a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering at the University of Nebraska. I worked on incredible and advanced research while at UNL. I have had opportunities to go work in pretty much every part of the country because of knowledge of wireless communications, personal area networks and embedded systems. And, I pull down pretty good bank here in Omaha.... I love the football team, but that was not part of the equation in determining where I went to school. Gameday saturdays was a benefit, sure, but nothing more. Based on this post, you are either a troll, delusional, or plain stupid. |

| Oh yea, and attending UNL has absolutely ZERO to do with the financial situation of the Athletic Department. Neither the university nor the state give financial support to the athletic department. In fact, there have been a few years where the Athletic Department gave money to the University. |
