Colorado 43, Baylor 23 Demetrius Sumler scored three TDs, and Kevin Eberhart kicked four 40+ yard field goals as CU avoided a letdown from last week's win over Oklahoma. Cody Hawkins went 17 of 26 for 293 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. Hugh Charles had 20 carries for 122 yards and Dusty Sprague had 5 catches for 95 yards and 1 TD. For Baylor, Blake Szymanski was 36 of 60 for 410 yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs. Brandon Whitaker had 11 carries for 26 yards and a score and also had 11 catches for 166 yards. Baylor outgained CU in total offense 465 yards to 450 yards. Colorado came out in this game and rolled, though there were a few too many penalties, two turnovers and the secondary gave up over 400 yards to Szymanski. It was an easy win however thanks to good offensive balance and great play from Hawkins. The Baylor offense is built to come up with big comebacks when needed, but despite over 400 yards passing, the Bears were never in this game as they were down 30-9 at the half. Penalties need to stop and a running game has to come from somewhere. This was another frustrating loss for Guy Morriss and the Baylor Bears. Morriss falls to 18-34 at Baylor and 7-27 in the Big 12. Kansas 30, Kansas State 24 Kansas won for the first time in Manhattan since 1989 with its win on Saturday. This game also marked the first time since 1999 that KU has even been able to score a TD in Manhattan and with the win KU is 5-0 for only the third time in 39 years. Kansas State's offense moved well but only gained 51 yards on the ground against the Jayhawks. Both teams committed three turnovers in the contest. For KU, Todd Reesing was 22 of 35 for 267 yards with 3 TDs and 2 INTs. Brandon McAnderson had 12 carries for 81 yards and Dexton Fields had 6 catches for 78 yards and a score. For the Wildcats, Josh Freeman was 31 of 48 for 305 yards with 1 TD and 3 INTs. James Johnson had 11 carries for 30 yards and Jordy Nelson was the leading K-State receiver with 10 grabs for 137 yards and a score. KU outgained KSU in total offense 437 yards to 363 yards. With this game KU proved it can move the ball against a good defense, and while the Jayhawks gave up a lot of passing yards, it clamped down when it had to and came up with three interceptions. There was good offensive balance and clutch plays for a team everyone will take notice of now, even though the Jayhawks have yet to face an offense ranked in the top 50 of the nation. The lack of a running game really hurt K-State in the loss. Freeman threw the ball pretty well, but there were not very many good drives in the second half. And the three turnovers committed by KSU proved to be more costly than the three committed by KU. Missouri 41, Nebraska 6 Chase Daniel had a career day and Mizzou held the potent Husker offense in check allowing only 74 yards rushing to blow the Huskers away. Nebraska came into the game averaging 36 points per game, but only managed two field goals in this contest. It wast the first time Nebraska was held without a TD since a 31-3 loss to Oklahoma in 2004. With the win, Mizzou beat Nebraska for the third straight time in Columbia and are 5-0 for the second straight year. Gary Pinkel is now 2-15 against ranked opponents with both wins coming against Nebraska. Chase Daniel was 33 of 47 for 401 yards with 2 TDs and also had 11 carries for 72 yards with another 2 TDs. Martin Rucker was the leading Tiger receiver with 9 catches for 109 yards and a score. For Nebraska, Sam Keller was 25 of 43 for 223 yards with 1 INT. Marlon Lucky had 17 carries for 67 yards and 7 catches for 56 more yards. Missouri outgained Nebraska in total offense 606 yards to 297 yards. Missouri made a national statement with this win and Chase Daniel entered his name into Heisman contention with his performance. If Missouri this way next week at Oklahoma and wins, things will get very interesting for the Tigers. The Huskers weren't even close in this game. Nothing of note happened in the passing game, the running game never got going and the defense showed no signs of life. The program isn't going to stand for many more of these performances. Oklahoma 28, Texas 21 Oklahoma got a great performance from Sam Bradford as the Sooners snapped a two-game losing streak to Texas in the 102nd edition of the Red River Rivalry. With the loss, Texas drops to 0-2 in the Big 12. The Longhorns have not been 0-2 in conference play since they started 0-2 in the old Southwest Conference in 1956. Sam Bradford was 21 of 32 for 244 yards with 3 TDs. DeMarco Murray had 17 carries for 128 yards and a score and Juaquin Iglesias had 6 catches for 99 yards. For Texas, Colt McCoy was 19 of 26 for 324 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. Jamaal Charles had 17 carries for 79 yards and Jermichael Finley had 4 catches for 149 yards and a score. OU outgained UT 414 yards to 385 yards. Texas committed two turnovers to none for Oklahoma. OU's offensive line rebounded nicely from last week, and while the offense wasn't completely consistent, it was pretty explosive with Bradford's steady play and great big plays from the Sooner receivers. Texas's offensive line struggled yet again and OU beat up McCoy all game long taking shot after shot. The Longhorn running game never got going, but somehow UT managed to stay with a stronger OU squad until the end. Texas A&M 24, Oklahoma State 23 Texas A&M came back from a 17 point deficit to match the biggest comeback in school history against the Cowboys on Saturday night. Stephen McGee was 11 of 20 for 169 yards with 1 TD. Jorvorskie Lane had 19 carries for 77 yards and 2 TDs and Kerry Franks had 4 catches for 120 yards to lead the Aggies. For OSU, Zac Robinson was 10 of 17 for 158 yards with a score, Dantrell Savage had 21 carries for 110 yards and Adarius Bowman had 7 catches for 142 yards with 2 TDs. OSU outgained A&m in total offense 459 yards to 368 yards. The Aggie defense tightened up in a big way in the second half and the offense opened up to lead the comeback as the Aggies now have taken control of the Big 12 South with a 2-0 record. Texas Tech 42, Iowa State 17 Tech freshman receiver Michael Crabtree set an NCAA record for receiving TDs by a freshman in his sixth straight multiple TD game. He scored three times against the Cyclones giving him 17 TD catches for the year. The record of 14 was held by Mike Williams of USC and Davone Bess of Hawaii. Crabtree's record also ties the Big 12 single season TD reception record of 17 set by Oklahoma State's Rashaun Woods in 2002. Crabtree leads the nation in receptions (70), receiving yards (1,074) and TDs (17). The single-season NCAA receiving TD record of 27 is in reach and is held by Jerry Rice of Misssissippi Valley State and Troy Edwards of Louisiana Tech. In the game, Graham Harrell was 36 of 43 for 425 yards with 4 TDs and 1 INT. Shannon Woods had 10 carries for 47 yards and Crabtree had 154 yards receiving on 10 catches with the three scores. For Iowa State, Bret Meyer was 15 of 26 for 187 yards with 1 TD. Jason Scales had 22 carries for 82 yards and Todd Blythe had 8 catches for 128 yards and a score. Tech outgained ISU 489 yards to 287 yards. ============================================ BIG 12 STANDINGS North Division 1. Colorado (4-2, 2-0) 1. Kansas (5-0, 2-0) 3. Missouri (5-0, 1-0) 4.
