| Looked very troubled in the 4th quarter. Almost seemed to be in tears at times. I wonder if his seat is hotter than Husker fans think? For the sake of Husker nation I hope the team comes back from the pounding they took last night. But can Callahan and co. pump them up? We've got a looooong road ahead of us, its time for Billy Bob to EARN his contract extension. This team appears to lack leadership and the fire it takes to win big games. Its time for the head coach to step up and get this team ready to play HARD football. |

| Two years ago Nebraska lost to Missouri & Brad Smith 41-24. (With 14 of those points coming very late in the 4th Qtr) Same reaction from the hypocritical nation of fans & haters alike, "We want his head on a platter!" The Huskers ended the season by blowing out Colorado & beating a tough Michigan team in the Alamo Bowl. So I think that answers at least one of your questions, he is capable of pumping them up to win. I can't stress enough to all that last nite was only one game. |

I can't stress enough to all that last nite was only one game. No, it wasn't just one game, fool. It followed Ball State (who got beat by a bad team), the USC throttling (who got beat by a bad team), and sneaking by WF (who almost got beat by Duke -- the joke of college football; you can probably relate). It's a pattern. If you only see that the problem with this football team manifested itself in "one game", you're a Dman. Oh wait...that's who wrote it. Big surprise! Is there anything more insulting than calling someone a "Dman"? That's as degrading as it gets. |

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up! |

Put the crack pipe down and see if you can come off that high long enough to realize you guys are on pace to finish ahead of ISU. *edit* And, you're looking down the barrel of a team that could march into Lincoln next week and throw up 40+ on you. |

I will say there is a tiny bit of hope for Nebraska. Michigan looked almost as bad defensively the first two game of their season as the Huskers did, and they seemed to have turned it around on that side of the ball. Only problem is, that was a two game sampling, versus the Huskers' 4-game sampling. I'm just trying to hold on to something positive, however unlikely it may be.
Cosgrove has got to make changes, and try something new. |

do you see Cosgrove on the sideline, both forearms wrapped with plays and formations. It's f*cking defense! Why does he need two arms full of crap to look at and signal in. Anyone? Anyone?
He looks like a total dumbass. |

Well, in fairness, our defensive woes aren't completely over...then again, neither are our coaching woes. We have no business losing to ASU, we have no business allowing E. Mich. to come in and play us within 11 points at home (and that's a trend of Carr's annually).
But, yeah, right now...I wouldn't trade scenarios with Nebraska Fan.
There is hope for Nebraska, but it's fading and a loss at home in the next two weeks could completely damper the season. OSU will be tough and A&M won't be any picnic...followed by @Texas and @Kansas then K St. and @Colorado...
Nebraksa seriously has to be worried about possibly losing out if things don't change. |

I really think they need to make a change for the sake of making a change. Whatever new system/gameplan is implemented can't be worse then what we see on the field now.
Simplify things. Play strictly man-to-man. Blitz every down. Put safeties on the D-line, and D-linemen in the secondary. Put Herbie and Larry the Cable Guy at linebacker. ANYTHING!!!! |

Here's the thing. Callahan isn't head coach material. He's offensive coordinator material - maybe even at the nfl level - but he isn't a leader. He's not THE guy. He never was THE guy and never should have been THE guy. He took the Raiders from 2nd in the league to dead last. He's taken NU from being if not a power, at least a team that people had some respect for, to someone that KU looks at and pencils in the win on the schedule for. Callahan does not inspire these kids. They do not fear or respect him and they have not bought into his 'system'.
This is his 3rd year, right? Shouldn't most of these kids be 'his players' by now? Shouldn't they be used to his 'system' at this point? All I see is NU getting worse - not better. So much for not surrendering the big 12 north. |

Actually, according to wiki, Beau was the 5th choice... Nebraska initially pursued Arkansas Head Coach Houston Nutt, but after Nutt refused to come to Lincoln for an interview,Ώ] the University of Nebraska was forced to look elsewhere. There is the belief, however, that the intense backlash by Nebraska fans against Houston Nutt was the true cause for Nutt to refuse the offer given by NU's Athletic Director, Steve Pederson.[citation needed] Mike Zimmer, Dallas Cowboys Defensive Coordinator at the time, did go to Lincoln for an interview, but still chose to reject the Cornhuskers.ΐ] Al Saunders, Kansas City Chief's Offensive Coordinator at the time, also rejected overtures by the Nebraska program.Α] Steve Spurrier was also rumored to have been given an invitation to an interview in Lincoln for the Head Coach position. Along with then Arkansas Head Coach Houston Nutt, who also turn down Nebraska. [citation needed] Nebraska eventually settled on their fifth choice, Bill Callahan, who had recently been fired from the head coaching position at the Oakland Raiders.Β] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Callahan_(football_coach) (Have to admit, the bit about Cosgrove in the 1st paragraph is very amusing...) |

That theory won't really pan out I don't think. This is the AD's guy and I don't see him expediting getting rid of Callahan too much. I think he'd dig his heals in and give him at least through 2009. |

Totally agree. At this point Beau and Lispy are there for a while. The only way to get them out would be if donations from all corners of 'sker nation were pulled and their contracts were bought out. The assistants & coordinators are the ones who'll be 1st to go. |

| it's beau's 4th season, his record is far from stellar and that's in the big 12 north folks. not exactly the sec east. i've been saying this for a long time sker fan. beau is not head coach material, nor will he ever be. i'm glad some of you have finally seen the light. the question is do harvey and stevie have enough moxie to do anything about it? i actually hope not. i rather enjoyed saturday night. |

Point 1: That spread offense Mizzou throws out there is something that will give and d-coord fits. Point 2: Charlie McBride's defenses went through phases of near collapse and idiots like you V were calling for his head, only to be the same fan that was all liquored up and screaming when McBride's defense dominated and got over the hump. Point 3: The entire d-line is new to starting. And thus far, only Potter & Suh show any remnants of having star power. (Carriker & Moore were very talent re: NFL) Point 4: Your sassy rhetoric and insulting style is so redundant that it almost appears foreign in many ways. It's like reading Chinese...I can only decipher bits & peices. |

Right, Mizzou dominated us. So did Ball State. And Iowa State. And USC. THAT'S WHY IT WASN'T JUST ONE GAME, YOU STUPID FVCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Suh had zero tackles. Is that a Top Five pick in Dipsh1t World?
It's not rhetoric --- it's truth, which is why most everybody agrees with me, and thinks you're a joke.
You're a sad, stupid man. |
