The Unity Council thing was a great tool.

The unity council didn't make tackles or score points.

Try a little harder!

Notre Dame is 1-6
Iowa is 3-4
Nebraska is 4-3
I understand that much very clearly.
While I cannot make any stands for NU this year that would hold up for what they've done on the field. It is pure stupidity that makes Logan & Dukester post their allegiance to a team, watch them lose week after week and then still relish openly at a rivals demise even while their own is much worse.

It starts with heart.

Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz, under fire for the team's recent lackluster performance, was teary-eyed on the sideline after victory was sealed for Iowa.

"Jake played a lot better today, certainly. He continues to grow," Ferentz said in an ESPN2 post-game interview.

Its about heart!

Iowa ran 17 more plays from scrimmage than the Illini and held nearly a 10-minute advantage in time of possession. Christensen completed 17-of-25 passing for 182 yards and a touchdown, completing passes to seven receivers, and had both wrists wrapped in ice afterward.

"I'm just banged up," he said. "It doesn't even hurt right now. I'm not even thinking about it. I could care less if I broke my leg today."

That's how much winning healed the Hawkeyes, especially the quarterback who took the brunt of Iowa's offensive struggles during the past four weeks but held the ball on the final two snaps.

"I get the chills even thinking about it," Christensen said. "It's just a great feeling, getting this first Big Ten win. The emotion just kind of got the best of us. We weren't trying to show up Illinois. We just wanted to let our fans know we appreciated them."

dwight,

the irish are 1-6 playing much tougher competition than your skers that are 2 lucky plays away from being 2-5. the irish are making improvements in their stats and haven't given up over 40 points 2 weeks in a row once to an unranked team. in the last 2 weeks the irish have scored more points than the skers. i would take the irish head to head over the skers no problem.

Really? Notre Dame is one of the few teams in college football that I think Nebraska would still beat. This is even after admitting I completely missed the boat on the Oklahoma State game. I think Iowa would beat Nebraska. I think every SEC team would beat Nebraska. I think every Big Twelve team but Baylor and Iowa State would beat Nebraska. But I think Nebraska would beat Notre Dame. Notre Dame is that bad this year.

Notre Dame and Nebraska are the most pathetic traditional powers in college football right now. But Notre Dame is worse.

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

Sagarin has Nebraska ranked 58th and Notre Dame ranked 78th. I pretty much agree with that relative ranking, but it's a tough call...both teams are struggling.

I'll take a 0-2 start and loss to App St. any day over where Nebraska and Notre Dame are at right now. And, honestly, as bad as Notre Dame is this year...I'd probably take their 3 year potential over Nebraska's.

notre dame is playing with a couple of things the skers are not. a defense and heart. that's why i'd take the irish over the skers.

Let's look at this statistically: Notre Dame has only given up 20 fewer points than Nebraska. The Irish's defense hasn't been that good. Yes, it's better than Nebraska's, but not enough to make up the difference in offense, which Nebraska owns. The Huskers have scored 119 more points than Notre Dame.

I'm not defending Nebraska. Most schools would beat them right now. NU is a very bad football team. Notre Dame is just quite a bit worse.

it is true that nd has only given up 20 fewer points than the skers but the question is against what kind of competition. the ytd offensive stats favor the skers as well but once again i have to raise the competition question. i guess in the end i think the heart the kids at nd are starting to show would be the difference. the poor kids for nebraska are just defeated in every way. i can't say i blame the poor kids having to deal with the coaching staff and some of the things being said about them publicly.

I don't think it's just the coaches' fault. The entire program -- A.D., president, Callahan, Cosgrove, players, and to some extent, even the fans -- deserve some blame. As Jim Rome just said, it's rock bottom in Lincoln.

I said two weeks ago they could potentially lose the next six games. I thought they'd get it together against OSU at home, but now that they didn't....yeah, rock bottom is pretty close to it.

But I'd still take Nebraska over ND...even in the presence of Touchdown Jesus.

I might agree if I thought Charlie were smart enough to bench Clausen for Sharpley who is clearly the more talented QB.

I'm putting all hater and homer aside when I say you're wrong. The only thing worse in college football then NU's defense is ND's offense.

I guess my point is, every fanbase in the country can, with a straight face and credibility, pile on the Huskers right now -- except Notre Dame. They're the only team looking up at Nebraska.

Logan, I believe you're capable of putting your Irish homerism aside to make an intelligent decision. However, you are INCAPABLE of putting your Nebraska haterism aside. So, it's skewed.

i'm making my prediction based upon how i've seen the 2 teams play the last 2 weeks. in all seriousness i feel horrible for those young men on the husker team. i never had to experience that. i was fortunate enough to win the last 25 games i played in and never played on a losing team.

Nebraska -vs- Notre Dame of 2007 would be an intriquing match up. No one could've guessed why (Prior to the season) it would be so intriquing.

More compelling reasons to do away with the BCS and create a playoff system....
