Ron Prince, in his 2nd year, is on his way to his 2nd win, and Dan Hawkins, also in his 2nd year, has one. Where's Cally's?

Out of curiosity, what would you like to see happen? Fire Callahan, and risk losing recruits? Some sort of worthless public acknowledgement that we're not there yet?

How would you resolve the problem you perceive?

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

Fair enough. Just wondering what the solution is. I see some of your frustration, but at this point, I'm not as vocal about it -- because I don't see what can be done to solve it...yet. I'm just being patient. It could turn out that I'm naive with my patience, but I see that as better than getting all worked up...at this point.

The way I see it right now, if things continue this way I wouldn't mind risking losing some recruits if it means getting Cally and Pedey out of here. It's a pipe dream at this point though.

If you don't see the impending doom for us, you're just not being realistic Dman. This season is a recipe for disaster right now.

I thought that defense aptly named the "Blackshirts" fought about as hard as you could ask them to. They clogged up the middle and made some "big" plays that were difference makers.
Don't get me wrong Bugs, I see the holes. I see the playcalling errors by Callahan. I see the offensive line play being just barely enough to bust a grape. I see it and hear your pessimism.
I also see Sam Keller, all those above average receivers and Marlon Lucky & Matt Slauson. That offense can be lethal. I know mistakes are absolutely an achilles heel to them and have been a trademark of Callahan's tenure thus far.
The defense has to be opportunistic for the rest of the season for NU to have a chance to win. The offense must not make the kinds of mistakes they made against ISU to win in Columbia and against K State. But let me go on record with this:
The 2007 version of the Nebraska Cornhuskers have not shown their best effort yet. That team has talent and has many new peices to the puzzle. The process of meshing has had to be thrown into the blender without properly measuring the ingredients. (Effects of Juco's) Suh, Potter, Bowman, Ruud and yes, even McKeon can make big plays in big games. What I am impressed about these much maligned players from this team is (since no one else evidently can find any positives) how much pride they have. I saw an interview online yesterday with Ndamakong Suh and he spoke about his pride and the pride of his teammates on defense. He spoke about feeling like he will not let this program down - and he backed that up by playing on a strained knee in today's game. Keller spoke about the same thing, "One thing I'm proud of is the way we rally around each other," Keller said. "There was a lot of things the defense went through last week, and they carried us this week. They were on the field a lot, out there battling, fighting, making tackles, making picks. I'm proud of the way they responded and the way the offense got a rhythm going at the end of the first half."

Regardless of what naysayers may say about Coach Callahan....they cannot say his players don't give him their all. Even when they don't play well, they gave it all. It shows and I for one can appreciate that. Besides, call for his head if you will, Nebraska is 4-1 and I know several teams & coaches that would love to be 4-1.

It's a shaky 4-1 at best. I'm not knocking on the players as I do believe they are giving their all, my anger is directed solely to the coach and AD. I'm not buying what they're selling.

you seriously don't think the skers could lose out in the north. i'm not predicting it but i'm saying it's very possible. i also think osu and a&m could pull off wins in lincoln. things could get ugly if the d doesn't improve drastically.

I can see the Huskers potentially losing to every team in the North the way they played ISU.

Nebraska hasn't played their best football yet. It doesn't take a "football god" to see that. When they do, I expect Logan to retreat to his special "one leggers" cave til the next loss. BTW, take Intermural with you!

It's week 6. We're at the mid-point of the season. If they haven't shined now, and it's not coming in week 6, then I have to question any 'shining' being done as a luck game.

We shined against ND. Doesn't mean we are finally playing up to our potential for the season as the Northwestern game demonstrated.

Nebraska is in a troubling situation and it'll take more than a single, solid looking performance before I believe their cause for alarm is no longer legit.
