how fitting that greg maddux hands the loss to the brewers that vaults the cubs into the playoffs.

Cubs and Yankees in the World Series.
The Red Sox will get knocked out of the first round by the Yankees.
Unfortunately the best team in the AL, Cleveland will get blasted by the Yankees in the ALCS.

The Cubs, Yanks and Red Sox are both the most liked teams in the country (pure numbers of people), and the most HATED teams in the country (again, pure numbers of people).

A World Series without ONE of those teams just won't be as fun.

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

The most beloved World Series would be the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians. I know that this series was played before in the 40's, but how cool would it be to have these two teams going for it all?

That would be pretty cool, actually. The two sports teams most associated with losing baseball (now that the Red Sox and White Sox have won), battling for it all. I hope it happens.

That, or Yanks (evil empire) v. Cubs (lovable losers).

Yeah, but Matt wouldn't agree. It would include the fact that the Red Sox lost, and then we would have to listen to a three day tirade about the fact that the Red Sox lost but really they won and got screwed by their record.
Or something along these lines, since he don't know shyt about sports.

i'd love to at least see the cubs make the world series. even if they get swept they'd get to a place they haven't been since 1945. the phillies are looking real good right now and i'm not about to discount the d bags.

I am cheering for the Cubbies in the NL...it'd be nice to see them win one...unless they face the Yankees then I'll cheer for them.

And it would be a ratings nightmare, since only the East Coast watches the world series, and with no East Coast teams in the Series, Fox would have to file for Bankruptcy.

It be nice to see the Cubbies in the WS. Seriously, it would be an honor for the Yanks to sweep em.

Actually things worked out better than I thought.
Cubs and Indians in the World Series.
Boston won't make it out of the first round since they left their best pitcher, Tim Wakefield, off the post season roster.
A-Hole, I mean A-Rod will do his 0 fer 22 routine in the postseason.
The Phillies and Rockies will leave it all on the floor during the first round.
The Babybacks don't have the pitching to get them through the first round.

Neither team may have to worry about that potential matchup.

If my NYY get swept.....by the way it looks like that may happen, then I will cheer for the Cubs.
