Thousands of NY Yankee fans are relinquishing long term relationships with the team by letting their season tickets go because of price. One guy stated, "If I paid that price I wouldn't be able to live with myself, it's not that I don't have the money, it's just ridiculous."

No question the bulk of the money to pay for these parks is absorbed by Joe Fan. :-(

and house priced at $250,000, a car @ $40,000, an iPhone at a few hundred, $2,000TV's, $100/mos TV packages, are all fine with you? I appreciate your diligence in googleing the current prices of sports entertainment, but the fact it that even Warren Buffet can't go out and get everything available in the world. Decisions must be made. If one chooses to pay Jerry Jones the right to watch his self-proclaimed America's Team, then so be it. If one chooses to pay UNL a few hundred bucks for rights to buy tickets, so be it. Deciding to pick and choose who the crooks are is a bit dubious if you ask me.

As for the Ryder Cup. Yes, I did watch the last hour. As I said, it was great drama. Didn't see anyone break a sweat though. Didn't see any great defensive plays. Did watch a Euro on Saturday do his "Kobe Bryant" gesticulation after draining an 18" putt (one which even I, a horrible golfer, makes 98% of the time) to close out a match.

Corporations will buy those tickets surrendered by Joe Fan. Just another example of "selling out" by MLB owners and owners of pro franchises in all sports.

The Yankees won't be the Yankees that New Yorkers have come to love with a grandstand full of egotistic executives. Joe Fan is sincere and excited, those executive are attending to keep up with the Joneses.

No question that we all have to make financial choices in our daily lives. And if I traded vehicles every year and the price of the car I drive increased 1000% in one year's time, you can bet that I'm not going to buy it and you can also bet that I will never be a customer of that car company again either.

As a business person, it's just not good business to chop the hand off the people that have been feeding you for the last 3 or 4 decades. I'm sure there will be those that will continue to support these franchises by buying their outrageously priced tickets, for instance, as Dwight suggests, the corporations, but the "true fans" the undying supporters of these teams will leave and never come back. If that is truly what we want our professional sports to become, so be it. I'm not buying.

BTW, I'm thinking Boo Weekly was sweating his ass off walking the 6 miles of course 4 or 5 times in 3 days.

Counting the Herd one hoof at a time.

My Boo Weakley story: I was at the Cox Communications annual tournament a few years ago, it was a hot day and some awesome golf was being displayed. Camillo Vejagas (spelling) and Boo Weakley were both a part of this day. At that time Boo was a nobody that hadn't even won a Nationwide tourney yet.

Well, I picked Boo out as my guy to follow for the day just because of his name. (I'm sure I wasn't the only one) He didn't play very well that day but it was shortly thereafter that my phone began to ring with friends telling me "my guy Boo" had won this tourney and then that tourney and then he was in the PGA and holding his own there. Gotta love those southern boys with a flare for down home.

Go Boo! (And Go Bo Too!!!)

Not sure how you can say Cox Classic and awesome golf in the same sentence?

Normally 20+ under on a course the LPGA wouldn't play on is not awesome golf.

Many of those guys are on the PGA tour today. If you have any real interest in golf at all I suggest you attend and watch very closely. There will be nothing you will watch that you yourself can do.

That is awesome golf!

I play quite regularly so I have a more than average concept of what "awesome golf is", a dozen or so people shooting 25 under is not good golf. Do you have any idea why they don't toughen up the Champions? Answer is the membership wants a course that is playable to the average golfer.

Your idea of awesome golf is understandably coming from a perspective of "I like the beer tents" mentality, not from the mentality that these guys are out struggling on a tough course. Its a nice little tournament lets leave it a that, the second coming of the Masters it is not, awesome golf it is not.

In terms of measuring play at the Cox Classic with Augusta when Tigers is playing well and the tournament is stocked full of guys at there best, I get it.

As far as using you as a measuring stick as to whether there was great golf in Omaha in July...I'd say there was fabulously great golf in Omaha.

I'll bet you're a +14 at best.

I liken it to the old Omaha Racers that played at Aksarben. I left the arena many nights then wondering why some guy that just scored 50 could not make an NBA roster...that was great basketball.

In that context you are correct.

This was also awesome basketball:
