Irish can draw one positive from this. They won’t have to worry about another loss in a bowl game this season.

Cornhuskers the winningest college football program of the last 50 years, both by winning percentage and number of wins.

Let's say Notre Dame goes .500 this season -- which might be tough to do. If that's the case, Charlie Weis will have the same record after 3 years as Tyrone Willingham (this according to a radio show I was listening to earlier; haven't verified).

Does Weis get fired? If not, should we anticipate some racial backlash?

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

Weis won't get fired and yes the race card will be dropped. davie and willingham hurt that program more than sker fan thinks frankie hurt theirs. i'm curious to see how charlie handles this. i get the feeling he may make some lemonade.

Race card will always get played.

Outside of race these guys are different caliber and will get treated differently.

Willingham didn't exactly have a stellar career in Standford (44-36-1). He only won one bowl game there. Quite frankly, you can make a case that he wasn't a ND caliber guy to begin with.

Weis, on the other hand, has ND blood. He had a winning tradition with one of the most respected franchises in the NFL.

Willingham had one 9-3 season before having back to back marginal seasons.

Weis has had two solid seasons and even if he goes .500-ish this season shouldn't be on the hot seat like Willingham was when all things are considered.

If anyone brings up race after this season it'll be racist alright...against Weis.

I hope, for his sake, that he has more success at Notre Dame then he did in his frivolous medical malpractice claim.

I really like Weis as a coach, but that's a tall order....Lou was 100-30-2 in ten years, 5-4 in bowls (all BCS caliber bowls, iirc) and won a national title.

If talent equates into wins, then Charlie has nothing to worry about.

Like it or not Notre Dame really doesn't have to recruit as 5 Star athletes sit and wait for the call from South Bend.

As a Michigan fan let me be the first to promise you that talent doesn't directly translate to wins.

Well, technically Dukester is an Iowa fan, but I think maybe he uses ND as a fall back crutch team when Iowa is down.

But, yeah, the sentiment would be the same...

ChiefShortChanged,

Didn't they teach you at the Indian School that it's politically incorrect to use the term "retard"?

What kind of firewater are you mixing with that red kool-aid anyway?

It's politically incorrect to be an Iowa fan, but we let you stay around anyway.

And it's Injian School.
