Iowa struggles to beat Iowa State, then sh*ts the bed against a very lackluster Pitt team, and Dukester somehow still believes Iowa is a better team than the really are.

This is what is known as wishful myopia -- believing in your heart of hearts one thing while all the evidence CLEARLY points in the exact opposite direction.

Iowa got outplayed AND outcoached Saturday, and this is before they begin Little 10 play. Granted, there are no world-beaters in Iowa's conference schedule (in fact, there aren't ANY worthy teams in the Little 10 this year...the Little 10 is what the Big 12 North was 2-3 years ago, a sham of a conference), but you are going to be hard-pressed to convince anybody that Iowa is going to be any kind of team worth worrying about. In fact, if they play like they did vs. Pitt and/or Iowa State, they may find themselves scrambling to finish .500 this year.

The case is completely different for the majority of Nebraska fans. We KNOW our team is not championship material. We KNOW our team is not even DIVISION championship material. We KNOW that teams like Missouri, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and maybe even Kansas are clearly more talented than the Huskers are, and there will be no excuses -- only statements of fact -- posted by this particular Husker fan if and when those teams beat Nebraska.

Would we like to see our team go 14-0 and win it all? Of course...who wouldn't? But after going through four years of hell under the Callahan/Pederson tyranny, we have a fresh perspective on what it takes to get to the top (something Iowa fans haven't sniffed in over 50 years...and counting). We know that the kids now playing there are going to make up for what is lacking in talent with a fire and passion that was absent during the last four years (and, obviously, continues to be lacking in Iowa City). The true-blue Husker fan is going to be happy to finish 7-5 or 8-4 and make a bowl game. After what we went through last year, even the Independence Bowl sounds like paradise right about now.

Iowa, meanwhile, is going to do very well for itself if it can find a way to win enough games in the Little 10 to qualify for ANY bowl this year. This is not a very good team and is not being coached very well, and anybody who thinks this team is better than the utter mediocrity they have shown thus far is suffering from wishful myopia.

And as the subject says...you can't spell Wishful myOpIA without IOWA.

Dukester has said noting of the sort!

Dukester stated that Iowa wins more games than Nerdraska this year and I stand by that.

7 - 5 or 8 - 4 with this very young Hawkeye team is all that Dukester has hoped for.

Where do you get the Iowa was out coached and out played yesterday?

Please give me some specific examples so I can understand just how much you understand the game of football.

Mike,
I cannot believe I am going to type this but, I couldn't have stated it better myself. Just the mismanagement of the QB situation is a prime example of being "out coached." Iowa is one of those teams this year that will shoot themselves in the foot if you can just stay close with them.

A good team will demolish them.

The demolishion will first strike in Lincoln before ever moving to Iowa City!

You can take that to the bank Dwight!

Sad how a fan of the pathetic 0 - 2 SeaHawks has to take the time to post about a team (Iowa) he proclaims not to follow or care about. I can say the same thing about Omahan, truly sad!

Dragging the thread's focus BACK from wherever Dukie is deflecting it to...

All I'll say, Duke, is that I can GUARANTEE the teams Nebraska will lose to this year are HEADS AND SHOULDERS above the teams Iowa will lose to this year.

We've already got that covered with Saturday's result...the fact that Iowa plays Little 10 games from here on out pretty much cements it unless Nebraska loses to Baylor or Iowa State...and I'm on record saying that's just not going to happen.

Truly an Excuse Train post, only SeaHawks or Dman would pull the "we will get beat up by better teams card"

Truly sad!!!

Dukester is gurgling poop water as he is being flushed down the toilet.

Face it champ...nobody likes an antagonist that lives and breaths one team and lavishes the demise of another.

You don't know what is good for you, you fool!

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Thanks, Dwight!! I've used that line on you about a dozen times (but with much more realistic application).

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

Even though at the moment I typed that, I didn't recall that fact. It is true.

I wouldn't run too far up the hill screaming "Dwight loves me" though. I might pop out from under a car and clothesline you.

Iowa’s reality is this: losing to Pitt will have dire consequences beyond your control. Just Ask West Virginia.

What in the hell does that mean?

Iowa lost to a "not very good" Pitt team on Saturday. Not sure Saturday was an indication that Iowa isn't a very good football team, or that Iowa isn't a very good football team with Jake Christensen at QB.

The sooner they figure out which it is, the sooner they can make some adjustments to salvage the remaining season.

A win away from playing for the national championship, the Mountaineers (10-2, 5-2 Big East) were expected to roll over rival Pittsburgh (5-7, 3-4) in the 100th Brackyard Brawl on their way to New Orleans for the Bowl Championship Series title game.
Then gets shocked in a 13-9 loss and ends up leaving the team high and dry. Just wait and see what happens at Iowa

If you're suggesting the dire consquence is that Iowa get's a new coach, I'm not so sure the adjective "dire" is appropriate in this circumstance.

Saying Iowa sucks is insulting to teams that actually suck.
Iowa is okay, nothing great. Will win seven or eight games and go to a bowl.
Nebraska looks decent. Could win seven or eight games (in a better conference) and go to a bowl.
Now, if you want to talk teams that suck (from BcS conferences), how about Washington State?
Baylor drilled WSU.
I repeat. Baylor drilled WSU. By 28 points.
Or try Syracuse on for size. Talk about a once-proud program doing a nosedive. Sheesh.

"Perhaps the worst thing that can happen is to reach into the refrigerator and come out with something that you cannot identify at all. You literally do not know what it is. Could be meat, could be cake. Usually, at a time like that, I'll bluff. "Honey, is this good?" "Well, what is it?" "I don't know. I've never seen anything like it. It looks like...meatcake!" "Well, smell it." (snort, sniff) "It has absolutely no smell whatsoever!" "It's good! Put it back! Somebody is saving it. It'll turn up in something." Thats what frightens me. That someone will consider it a challenge and use it just because it's in there." -- George Carlin

"Dwight loves me"?? Uh, no. I will never scream that. That is terrifying to me, given some of the things you've admitted daydreaming about.

Although, if I did ever run into you, it wouldn't surprise me if you were hiding under a car. That seems about par for the course.

Go Huskers!!!
