I don't get it...rumors have been swirling about the Mets perceived dilemma with Randolph for some time. It was pretty obvious that things are rocky in the Mets front office and there seems to be a lack of clear leadership. Now, this cowardly release of Randolph and a couple other coaches has put the cherry on top of what is a complete disaster in the Mets organization.

At first, I felt bad for Randolph, but I am thinking this is best thing for him. No, he's not the greatest MLB coach, but he deserved better than that.

Evidently all of the calendars in the Mets offices read "2000" and not "2008."
That's the only reasonable explanation for thinking that a team with Delgado, Beltran, Alou, Pedro, Wagner, El Duque, etc. would be better than it actually is.

"Perhaps the worst thing that can happen is to reach into the refrigerator and come out with something that you cannot identify at all. You literally do not know what it is. Could be meat, could be cake. Usually, at a time like that, I'll bluff. "Honey, is this good?" "Well, what is it?" "I don't know. I've never seen anything like it. It looks like...meatcake!" "Well, smell it." (snort, sniff) "It has absolutely no smell whatsoever!" "It's good! Put it back! Somebody is saving it. It'll turn up in something." Thats what frightens me. That someone will consider it a challenge and use it just because it's in there." -- George Carlin

Yeah, seriously...all they needed to complete the insanity was to give Big Mac and maybe Sosa contracts.
