It amazes me how many people side with Jason Taylor in his now public dispute over Parcells management style. Let's review the facts... First off, people hate Parcells, and understandably so, he is unquestionably one of the most old school, stubborn and one-track minded guys in the NFL. But, he does have two Super Bowl rings and arguably should get a share of credit if Dallas can bring one home this year. So, a lot of the anti-Tuna hatred is really just to spite Tuna coupled with the fact that Taylor is a flat out likable guy. I like him, but I've also lost respect for him. You see, it wasn't Tuna who made this public, it was Taylor. And really it was over something so 7th grade-ish it's almost laughable. He didn't "acknowledge" you when he was busy in a film study that you interrupted, Jason? Imagine that. So, Taylor is using that alleged story, coupled with the perception of Tuna and the assumption that Tuna hates Dancing with the Stars, and undoubtedly hates not having Taylor's presence in off season workouts. Bill knows what it takes win and Taylor is placing self above team. Why? Well a couple reasons... 1. Taylor needed an "excuse" to do Dancing with the Stars The fact is, the average fan wouldn't be particularly excited that a team leader isn't there leading his team by example. Taylor needed a reason, an excuse really, to be on Dancing with the Stars and misdirect attention from his blatant lack of leadership. But, come on, did he really just do all of this over Dancing with the Stars? Of course not... 2. Taylor has other priorities in mind The real reason for the drama isn't Dancing with the Stars. The real reason is the age old reason...money. Taylor wants one thing, more money and he wants it one of two ways. Either he wants Miami to commit to him as a cornerstone or trade him a la Allen to Minnesota. Taylor is 33, this is his last chance for better money. He knows that Miami is at least a two year rebuild if not more and if he stays he wants rewarded. More than likely Taylor wants out...Miami will be different under Parcells whether he coaches or not and if for no other reason, Jason will want out to win games somewhere, but another stab at whatever guaranteed dollars he can get is still a constant. |

Quite frankly, Parcells is the one who started the controversy when he publicly expressed his dissatisfaction that Taylor would be doing the show and would not be at the "voluntary work-outs".
You have a proven veteran of 11 years in the NFL.....he has 6 pro bowl appearances, he is one year removed from being the NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2006) - so he still has game. Don't you give this guy the benefit of the doubt?
If not, trade him. |

You have a link that supports that? Because I wasn't able to find it. I've seen Dolphin fan after Dolphin fan and Parcells hater after Parcells hater claim that Tuna started this war, but when I look back through ESPN or media searches on the subject everything points to Jason Taylor publicizing this whole ordeal. In fact, it looks like what really brought the whole thing to the surface was Taylor's comments to the media whining about Parcell's giving him the cold shoulder. And, even if he did, so what? We all knew Parcell's wasn't going to like it. If he stated it publicly should he be admonished for that? Although, I think you'll find Taylor has been the primary instigator in propagating statements to the media and not Tuna. |

Well, I'm not really sure I need a link. The business you are talking about occured just over a month ago (April 29th), and this storyline has been public for way longer than that. Regardless, in this situation, who acted like the 7th grader? Again, you have a decorated, 11 year veteran that stops in to see you, and you ignore he is even there. I guess I would suggest that both are probably acting a little childish. |

The reason I am curious to see a link is because you stated explicitly that Parcells started it and I don't think that's correct. When push comes to shove, I side with Parcells on the issue. He may be a prick, but he knows what it takes to win and frankly I don't give flying leap how decorated you are...if you're going to be a leader you should lead by example. So, in my estimation, childish or not, Taylor got exactly what he had coming. Then to dramatize it to the media is where he lost credibility to me. And, you're assuming Taylor is right...there could be another explanation. Not likely, but still...either way, props to Taylor for side-tracking everyone on the issue and displacing anger to Parcells and avoiding media frenzy about him wanting more cash a la Urlacher. |

Well, I'm not sure about the cash deal. He is going to make $7.5MM this year, so I seriously doubt anyone is going to step in that will pay him more, nor would I think that Jason Taylor himself thinks he can get more scratch than that this season. After this season, he's pretty much free to do as he wants and go play for a Super Bowl contender if he chooses.

At this point, no...definitely not, but you have to remember all this unfolded before the draft. I think what happened is his agent bought into the media hype that teams were going to be willing to give up picks for him and Taylor bought into it and saw dollar signs. And frankly, if there was weight to it, and a team would of been willing to give a first rounder like Miami would of demanded, he'd merit more guaranteed now than he will in free agency next season. Because if he'd of been traded for...he's of got his number this season and guaranteed dollars on top of it. I tell you what, if Taylor dramatized all of that for anything less than letting possible suitors know that he'd be interested then it's even more childish. |

| I'm disappointed in ESPN's coverage of JASON TAYLOR lately. I need to know what JASON TAYLOR thought of the season finale of Lost and it would be nice to know where JASON TAYLOR went out for dinner last Saturday. I couldn't get enough JASON TAYLOR when he was on dancing with stars. JASON TAYLOR should sign with the RedSox so I could hear more about JASON TAYLOR on ESPN. |
