DES MOINES, Iowa - A new Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine report says Omaha and Des Moines are among the nation's top 10 places to live, work and play.
Omaha was listed as the third best and Des Moines came in ninth on the Best Cities for 2008 list.

Not sure if the rest of Nebraska is a better gauge of what the state is really like compared to Omaha but if Omaha is the standard, Yikes!
Council Bluffs is more than ready to let you come and spend your money at the casinos but for the most part the winos, mentally ill, and unemployed can stay on the banks of the Gene Leahy Mall where they currently live and apparently reproduce at an alarming rate!!!

| Dukester, hate to have to do this, but I had a meeting today with the President of a Midwestern food delivery company (don't ask). We started talking about how the sagging economy was affecting his business. It wasn't even a part of the discussion, but he felt the need to tell me that Council Bluffs makes up less than 15% of his business, yet Council Bluffians account for almost 40% of the bad checks his company receives. Ouch. Not a good ratio for those folks across the river. What are they doing with all that casino money, besides purchasing mullet hair product, Stone Cold Steve Austin T-shirts, and home pregnancy tests? |

Are you telling me you know a Schwan Man? If they are getting bad checks it might just be fallout from the tainted ice cream they peddled on unsuspecting consumers a few years back!
