For those of us sick of SEC fans touting their BCS victories, here is an interesting little set of statistics I came up with.

Conf. -- BCS Record -- # of higher rated matchups

SEC -- 11-4 -- 10
B10 -- 8-9 -- 8
P10 -- 8-4 -- 7
ACC -- 1-9 -- 2
B12 -- 6-8 -- 5
BEast -- 6-4 -- 5

Just something to consider...

What's the "number of higher rated matchups" actually mean?

It means that is how many times that conferences team was the higher rated team.

So the SEC is playing the ACC a lot.

I was in the process of figuring out the conference match up breakdowns actually, but yeah...at first glance you get that feeling, lol.

I'm not sure that your contention that they've had it easier due to playing lower ranked teams holds up. (I'm assuming that was your theory) The SEC has played in the National Championship game 4 times, and 3 of those times they were #2 (underdog). They've won every NC game they've played in (4).

Also, if the SEC wasn't playing in a NC game, it is probably a safe assumption that they were one of the next in line, therefore maybe being a 3 or 5 playing a 4 or 6? I don't know. I'm just shooting holes in your theory.

Just suggesting that if you are the number 3 team in the country many of those years, they certainly can't be playing a team that is ranked higher.

Also, when tOSU goes into the Championship game every fricken year ranked #1 and then gets their asses handed to them, it sort of skews the Big 10 numbers in the opposite way. (favored 8 times and have 9 losses). That means they are getting beat by under-ranked teams.

I may have mentioned this before, but if Ohio State gets into the BCS title game this year I'm going postal.

Considering Nerdraska coached by Booboo Pelinni won't be in the game I consider that you're half way to going Postal before the season starts.

It's my fault," said first-year Nebraska coach Bo Pelini. "Damn right, yes, I'm embarrassed. I apologized to the team. I apologize to the state of Nebraska. I apologize to everyone associated with Nebraska football.
"It's my responsibility. I was hired to do a job and I didn't do the job, I'm just not a very good coach.

When you consider SEC Fans argument using the BCS as their benchmark you have to consider the whole and not just the part and the fact is, when you look at all conferences, they all perform equitably overall.

Just suggesting that if you are the number 3 team in the country many of those years, they certainly can't be playing a team that is ranked higher.

That's true for all conferences though, not just the SEC...

The fact is, they have historically had the best matchups.
