http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3393773 Should Joba tame down his antics? I don't know that what he did is all the different from K-Rod, Poppel and others. I haven't watched a ton of baseball, is he doing THAT much more than those other guys? Let it go, imo...baseball NEEDS some fire. |

Not an act of class on Joba's part. I think he will get his a-- handed to him one of these days. |

It's my fault," said first-year Nebraska coach Bo Pelini. "Damn right, yes, I'm embarrassed. I apologized to the team. I apologize to the state of Nebraska. I apologize to everyone associated with Nebraska football. "It's my responsibility. I was hired to do a job and I didn't do the job, I'm just not a very good coach. |

Whatever, I just watched the Devil Ray's / Yankees game last night...Ray's win by a run and start doing the exact same crap as they cross the plate. The more I think back the more of this crap sticks out in my mind that happens in various games that are routine day to day games.
So what? Pitchers are somehow exempt...get over yourself if it upsets you, imo. |

There is an odd dynamic involved in MLB when a batter -vs- pitcher celebrate. Why is it okay for the pitcher and not for the batter to show exuberance? I think it is okay for all players to show emotion in the heat of battle. Joba is being targeted because he is early in his career IMO. Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens were both notorious for fist thrusting exuberance after a crucial strikeout. People need to get over themselves. |

It doesn't bother me, personally, but if among baseball players, it is viewed as wrong or disrespectful, it might be in his and his teammates' best interest if he tones it down.
For entertainment purposes, I hope he doesn't. But to diffuse the situation, maybe he should (unless it somehow impacts his performance) |
|
After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up! |

Taunting normally comes with a price somewhere down the road. I hope this is just a phase he is going through. |

What is that supposed to mean? They got a pitcher that throws 100 mph fastballs? Joba wasn't a head case in college. He partied like every other kid did and put on a few pounds at one point during his college days. Egami - some of your opinions are just scraping the surface. I suggest you pause and think prior to posting. |

Funny you would ask critter...the simplest minds on this board are you and your prohibitive favorite boy egami. No one lends more credibility to tired, old, burnt out theories of the past than you two Siamese twins. This place is lucky they have others that can bring something other than the obvious. Original thought is neither of you two's sounding board. I wouldn't be surprised if egami's next thread was named: NBA needs a shot in the arm! And read: The National Basketball Association is in dire need of some sound management individuals to replace the cowpokes that are currently holding down top level jobs. I nominate my buddy Crit40 to replace Danny Ainge in Boston and I nominate myself to replace Mitch Kupchak in LA. These two fumbling fools managed to trade for Kevin Garnett and Pau Gasol respectively and we all can see the results. Crit & I would restore honor and integrity to these deserving cities and go after some young talent to build around. Aging veterans have availed most teams nothing, but you couldn't tell Ainge nor Kupchak that. Crit & I will tighten the budget from our living rooms as we take conference calls in our underwear. We will bring the true midwestern spirit of Iowa to the table. While we acknowledge that we have not been properly schooled in Iowa as passing from grade to grade at our high school meant just switching desks. Nonetheless, we will bring our small town moxie and grit to those two major cities and do so with pride. We could care less that we won't represent our faithful back home with diligence. At least we will keep it real with our cocky rhetoric. Where we lack in pure brain power we will make up for with down home cockiness. We believe that cockiness can replace confidence anytime! |
