Anybody else tired of subsidizing these oil conglomorates? |

We partly got ourselves into this mess as we didn't learn from our mistakes in the past.
When gas became scarce in the 70's Detroit began building smaller cars and fuel efficient imports began appearing everywhere.Peoples behavior changed regarding what they drove. The speed limit was lowered to 55, the end result was millions of gallons of fuel being saved on a daily basis. Peoples driving habits changed.
Fast forward to 2008 and we find people purchasing SUV's that are the size of a semi and the speed limit remains at 70 to 75 mph and even at that speed people in huge SUV's blow by you.
We asked for whats happening this time around, get used to it as cheap 3.00 per gallon gas will never happen again.

You mean the same Democrats now running the show in Congress??? The ones who were sh**ing the bed when they had a chance to take out Osama bin Laden a decade ago, but didn't because their representative in the White House was too busy chasing skirts??? The same Democrats who gave us the nightmare known as Jimmy Carter??? Ooohboy...can't wait for THEM to straighten this mess out.
Fact is, this is a two-party f***edup system that is sending this once-great nation right up the river. Neither political party is worth the energy it takes to produce my next bowel movement. I wouldn't vote Obama, Clinton OR McCain for assistant dog catcher, let alone President of the United States. A vote for any of these three is a vote for the same song, next verse.
I think we need to adopt an approach suggested by Lewis Black -- pick a spot on the map, put a monkey on an airplane, fly that plane over the spot on the map, put a parachute on the monkey and push him out of the plane, when he lands he walks up to the first person he sees and takes that person's hand, and THAT person would be our next President.
Compared to the choices now available...I see nothing wrong with Black's idea. |

Clinton chased skirts. No doubt about that. But that wasn't what caused our attention to be diverted from Bin Laden.
The Republican Congress had to have their witch hunt. They caused the government to incur hundreds of millions of dollars pursuing their pointless investigation. Instead of focusing on the problems of the world, Congress and other goverenment entities were busy with Clinton's dog and pony show. It was despicable. It was all politically motivated. In the end, it did nothing but further polarize our country, and waste valuable time, money, and brainpower.
Blame Clinton for being morally questionable. But blame the Republican Congress for diverting so much of the government resources away from more pressing issues. The President's love of fat chicks shouldn't have been America's No. 1 priority, yet that's what Gingrich and the Repub. Congress made it. |

Clinton had the chance to take Bin Laden out. There were people ready to take him out and had him in position to do so, and Clinton choked.
I'll agree with you on the impeachment nonsense...but the fact is Clinton dropped the ball.
Doesn't have much to do with oil going up to almost $124 a barrel today, though...I'm thinking we need to start telecommuting to work and telling the oil companies to go f*ck themselves. |

Clinton did drop the ball -- as did Bush in Tora Bora. Bin Laden is an evasive a-hole.
The difference to me is, I don't think anyone appreciated how big of a threat Bin Laden was during Clinton's years. After all, Reagan armed and financially supported the guy years earlier. Maybe that's incompetence or ignornace on Clinton's part. But it DEFINITELY was incompetence and ignorance when Bush supposedly had him in Tora Bora, and didn't act. We knew all about Bin Laden at that point. |

I don't disagree with you there, V. Two golden opportunities to take the S.O.B. out and we gagged on both of them.
Which makes that monkey mentioned earlier all the more appealing as a replacement for both parties' representatives in the upcoming election. |
