For those of you that follow your teams closely enough to watch, or at least research, what may be your teams peaks and valleys going into 2008...post your reviews.

I watched Michigan's (which was two weeks ago, actually) and part of Iowa's, but I'll let one of the hawk heads talk about Iowa.

---------

Going into 2008 the big concern is going to be offense. Blue loses big names...QB Chad Henne, RB Mike Hart, WR Mario Manningham, LT Jake Long, WR Adrian Arrington and LG Adam Kraus.

Defense will suffer a couple loses as well...namely LB - Shawn Crable and SS - Jamar Adams.

Obviously, losing Coach Carr will be a major impact as well while we go through a transition change in offensive scheme. Overall, defense will remain essentially the same and I am sure contributed greatly to the imbalance in the spring game having already had an additional personnel advantage over the offense as well.

Also, it should be noted that in addition to graduating two top caliber OL we lost an additional 3 due to the coaching change. One of which was just a fat guy that largely didn't like the new S&C coach...a most welcomed addition to our team from my personal perspective.

Largely, the game as a whole was dominated by defense. Like I said before, from a strategic perspective very little changes from our basic defensive package, so the guys are largely learning the new play calls.

On offense, well..we have no real answer at QB. Leading candidate Steven Threet looked good at times, but is clearly still struggling to acclimate quickly. Contender Nick Sheridan, an in-state walk on under Carr, also looked rusty, but showed promise to compete for snaps.

The o-line is clearly lacking cohesiveness, which is to be expected.

Overall, the team isn't where it needs to be to compete. If I had to assign grades I'd give our defense a B, and our offense a C-. Conditioning looks good, but I'd like to see better overall hustle and athleticism. It's the spring game though, so we'll see how things look in the fall.

Go Blue!
