What did he do?

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

So Bo called the Daily Nebraskan and went nuclear on them for questioning his discipline policy...Was he on hold behind Gov. Heineman and John Cook?

Who didn't expect him to go ballistic? However I thought it would happen in the fall after a good ass kicking!

Gotta put those student journalists in their place...before they turn into National Enquirer-type storytellers that you can't trust.

Wait a minute...that pretty much describes EVERY major-media journalist...never mind.

i went to school down in lincoln from 01-06' and believe it or not, i did get a degree. The DN likes to poke and prod, and tries to get a big reaction out of somebody. The DN knew he had a short fuse and went after him. Now did Bo over react a little bit, yea, but i beleive he was provoked to a certain degree

Sadly, it does. At least the Enquirer is transparent about their agenda.

I read this article: http://archive.uwire.com/2008/04/15/football-pelini-spars-with-student-paper-after-critical-editorial/

This article underscores my disdain for media. Media has expanded their job from reporting to meddling. They have gone from using their platform as a transparent means of reporting to using it to push a one-sided agenda.

It used to be papers would often publish multiple sides of issues and have writers that would reflect both sides. There is still some of this, but largely the art is lost and they've become one-sided agenda machines.

The art isn't completely lost -- there are thousands of journalists practicing true journalism, it's just that few are doing it within the major media outlets (CNN, Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS, World-Herald, New York Times, etc.). These outlets have specific political agendas they are pushing, truth and accuracy be damned. And while there are people in the media practicing similar ethically-questionable tactics elsewhere, the majority of those within the journalism community DO work to get both sides and present a fair and balanced story. The sad thing is that we generally just see these yahoos and paint the entire profession with the same broad brush.

The Daily Nebraskan traditionally has been a great training ground for quality journalists. Obviously, in this case, it seems they are sliding toward the ugly side of the medium in an effort to get a reaction from a high-profile individual and sell papers as a result. It's a shameful tactic, but not a surprising one, all things considered. Today's DN staffers will soon be tomorrow's left-wing staff writers...

Well, that's why I said "largely"...it's not extinct, but it's endangered.

I don't have much of a valid opinion on TDN historically, or presently even as a whole. I am just basing it off this article, but I know enough about crappy, mega-media journalism to know this is a copycat attitude of the garbage being perpetuated across the US.

Sadly, The Onion is arguably one of the best media outlets around.

Tom realed him back in and everything appears to be heaven-like again in Bo Bo land.

IMO a guy with a little fire is way better than the "wha?...where?....huh?....I've done a great job....wha?....I don't know what you're talking about......we played great.....huh?.....its too complicated for you" that was present during the Callahan years.

Keep 'em on their toes Bo Bo.

Who is actually surprised that this happened?

I like the fire that BO has.

For the first 10 seasons I watched TO on the side lines with his “golly gee guys come on now that was a bad call”. It drove me crazy, after the way that Bob coached the team with his fire and kick your teeth in style.

The funny part about this whole thing is that Perrault was all over this thing stating that Bo Bo needs to get a thicker skin. If THAT ain't calling the kettle black, I don't know what is.
