When I first heard Vitale got elected, I was for it. I thought he did a lot for basketball. I saw the long list of credible people in the sport who have been supporting his election for years. I like Vitale, and thought why not? He'll appreciate it more than anybody.

Yesterday, I read this article.

It swayed me. It made good points. I've done a 180, and don't think Vitale should be in.

Thoughts?

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

I hate Vitale, so I am biased maybe.

But I never thought he had any business being even considered on a contributory level. I suppose he is "famous" and if you want to take it to that level, but I just don't get it either...

Well written article.

I take back that I like Vitale. I tolerate him. He is what he is. He screams, and says "diaper dandy", and "PTP'er", but the more I think about it, what real insight does he provide? Not much.

I was pretty impressed with Bob Knight's analysis, and how he articulated it, during the tourney. I'm not sure what I expected, but he made a good showing in my book.

He's more f*cking annoying than John Madden and Darrell Waltrip combined.

I'm surprised Duke V didn't hold off his election to the HOF until JJ Redick was eligible so they could go in together.

Friend of mine was in the ESPN zone shop in Orlando the same time as him and said he was super rude to the employees there while he loaded up on comped gear...On top of that he had devastating B.O.

He's a Duke homer, that's enough to put him over the edge for me.

Inductions such as this are what make many think that HOF's are a big joke.

Counting the Herd one hoof at a time.
