I figured since Miami has essentially made the first pick already we may as well get this going. EDIT: The latest rumors are that Miami is talking to several different players, so the first pick is still wide open. Same rules as last time, give a brief explanation of why you picked who you did, and no one can make consecutive picks. Hopefully we can lure Blackshirt out of lurkdom with this. Round one draft order: 1 Miami Dolphins 2 St. Louis Rams 3 Atlanta Falcons 4 Oakland Raiders 5 Kansas City Chiefs 6 New York Jets 7 New England Patriots (From 49ers) 8 Baltimore Ravens 9 Cincinnati Bengals 10 New Orleans Saints 11 Buffalo Bills 12 Denver Broncos 13 Carolina Panthers 14 Chicago Bears 15 Detroit Lions 16 Arizona Cardinals 17 Minnesota Vikings 18 Houston Texans 19 Philadelphia Eagles 20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21 Washington Redskins 22 Dallas Cowboys (From Browns) 23 Pittsburgh Steelers 24 Tennessee Titans 25 Seattle Seahawks 26 Jacksonville Jaguars 27 San Diego Chargers 28 Dallas Cowboys 29 San Francisco 49ers (From Colts) 30 Green Bay Packers 31 New York Giants GO! |

I'll insert my homerism and offer up the inevitable Michigan fan pick.
For the first pick in the 2008 NFL draft the Miami Dolphins take:
Jake Long - OT - University of Michigan |

My suck ass Rams need to address the line issues at some point during the NFL Draft, perhaps as soon as the No. 2 overall pick. Michigan tackle Jake Long is very much in play for that selection.
With the number two pick in the 2008 NFL draft the St Louis Rams select Branden Albert, Virginia
(BTW Long will be a Ram but just for fun I will say Albert)

Come on, at least take Clady or Otah and make it a realistic top OT pick. |

Trade-ups are becoming less and less popular, especially at the top of the first round, but a strong case could be made for KC trading up to get Jake Long. They began to fall apart when Will Shields retired, and WIllie Roaf left. I'm curious how the experts grade Jake Long against Joe Thomas. Because if Long has a similar impact, it'd be worth the trade-up.
Oh, and to keep this thing going, the Atlanta Falcons decide to forego addressing more pressing needs by taking the most talented player remaining in the draft:
Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas |
|
After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up! |

The Oakland Raiders select...I SO want to take a K here... Chris Long - DE - Virginia Personally, I think KC's needs are too deep to give up picks to trade up, so that means they'll probably try to do it. |

If McFadden slips to No. 4, is it a foregone conclusion that Al Davis takes him, even though the raiders have Justin Fargas and Dominic Rhodes? I think it happens.
Although, keep in mind that Janikowski is getting up there in age. They may draft a kicker for him to groom for several years.
It'll be interesting to see if Matt Ryan can slip to Baltimore, and if he does, do they take him? If they don't, are the Bills next?

Well, how convenient that I show up when the Chiefs are on the clock.
While KC's offensive line woes have been well documented, that can be addressed in later rounds seeing that there isn't good value at this position. Since Brodie Croyle has durability issues and this team needs nearly a complete offensive rebuild...
With the 5th overall pick, the Kansas City Chiefs select:
QB Matt Ryan |

Oh, and I doubt the Chiefs trade up with all the needs they have. I think they'll stick with the #5 pick and not trade down either. |

So who the f#ck went No. 1, Dorsey or J. Long? Guys, this is the "Official" "Mock" Draft and the shenanigans that seem to be going on are not representative of how a true "offical mock" thing should go. I mean you got the No. 2 picker saying he wants someone, then No. 1 comes in and says "are you serious?", so No. 2 says "ok, you take Dorsey and I'll take the guy you picked" and now its "official"? What a f#ck'in mockery of the mock draft! With the 7th "fake" Pick in the 2008 NFL Official Mock Draft, the Boston Patriots take Dominique Rodgers Cromartie, CB, Tennessee State |

The Baltimore Ravens forfeit the 8th pick in the 2008 Official Mock Draft, as they had over 22hrs to make their selection but failed to do so.
Cinco in now on the official fake clock.
