I thought it was sad how many people were criticizing UNC coach Roy Williams as though he were a traitor for wearing a KU shirt at the title game while sitting behind their bench.

Frankly, I thought it was a sincere, quality gesture to recognize his old ties and support them in the final game.

They say...people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate.

I actually created Fergie in part to attack you Crit without you knowing it was me. Some of your takes were so lame that I almost came at you as myself a few time...

The timing of it probably wasn't the greatest, I'm sure there would be less outrage if KU hadn't have run UNC off the court two days prior.

I have seen Roy Williams in the stands at many of the UNC sporting events. Even at the College World Series. He is a great supporter. This talk is all a bunch of nonsense.

If you you're gonna get beat, don't you want it to be against the eventual National Champion?

But it wasn't mostly UNC fans I heard whining...

KU fans? I would guess that to be a minority if that is true. Most KU fans respect RW, from what I've seen.

Not per se, just in general a lot of fans and even a few radio/TV talking heads that had no vested interest either way. That's what was most surprising. I'd think that the bulk of non-biased fans in terms of vested interest in either college wouldn't be so upset over it...in fact, I think most would think along the lines I do on this incident.

And, yes, it's a minority even in that case I think...I am just surprised at the number I did hear though.

People take the importance of sports way too seriously.

A guy with a sincere tie to the Kansas program wore a Kansas shirt. That's what happened. That's it.

If you get worked up over something that innocent and irrelevant, you need a hobby.

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

Actually, it was just a KU sticker.

I agree, if I had known he used a sticker instead that would've made more sense. Hang him!

Well, if you think about it, the sticker was probably an afterthought. He was walking into the arena, he saw an old KU buddy who handed him a KU sticker, and he politely stuck it on his lapel.

Now had he worn a KU shirt, that would have been premeditated treason.

KU Sticker = good guy
KU Shirt = high treason

I don't think I'd do well in the public eye. Because if I were Roy Williams, and innocently/sincerely wore that sticker to show support for his former team, and everyone made a big deal out of it --- I'd go to town. I'd show up at the ESPYs with my face painted with a big K and U on it. I'd go to speaking engagements wearing a Danny Manning jersey. I'd take out ads in USA TODAY, saying "CONGRATS JAYHAWKS!!!"

Maybe that's why I hate the media so much. I always imagine how I'd respond to their petty criticisms, and blowing things out of proportion.

Much to do about nothing as far as I'm concerned. The guy is a class act. His team was out, he was cheering for his former team where he spent 15 years of his professional life. The media can just "suck it"!

Eh, before the KU-UNC game there was a great deal of animosity displayed by the KU fans regarding Roy. The NC and Roy showing support for KU did a lot to heal the wounds.

It's such a non-story, but the talking heads need something to justify their waste of oxygen.

It's situations like this that make me glad to be out of the biz...
