Just my opinion, but...I think if you get a tier one city like KC, Chicago, Atlanta or the like behind it you'd easily replace the current attendance.

The thing is...I don't think there are any dice to roll. I think the NCAA and Omaha both know full well what the situation is and it's just a matter of the truth actually coming out.

Like I said, I think there were a lot of behind closed door discussions and under the table promises made because ideally both would like a new stadium and now that there is a public uproar everyone is trying to pretend like nothing has been said privately.

The fact is, with what we know now and what has been publicly stated by the NCAA, the city is really in no boat to force the issue outside of the fact that a handful of people want this. And those people, I think, are the businessmen that would benefit most from it's relocation who have got the Mayor in their pocket.

The people who are against this proposal really have a lot of weight on their side of the issue if they would just organize and push the issue.

Did anyone notice that the board angry boy and boy child vranged never renders his free wheeling opinion on the stadium matter?

I suppose he will announce at some point that he is a city board member and a very close (reach around) friend of Fahey's and could not disclose the "insider" information that he was privy to.

Guaranty it will be up that alley...No Job, Lives with mommy, Brainless Bimbo wife, Creighton drop out, hinging on his friend the investor to create another huge deal out of thin air VRANGED.

Yep, that about sums him up in a sentence or two.

My opinion is that the opposition to the new stadium is basically due to THIS crap, and not necessarily the "historic" issue.

1. According to the NCAA, they would have re-upped the contract if they had received a proposal by the city which met their demands regarding a renovation. They asked for one proposal - the committee chose a new stadium proposal (according to the NCAA).
And that there were essentially no talks about pulling the CWS from Omaha and that they didn't even have anyone step up that might be interested.
(those comments are "on the record")

2. According to Fayhe, the City did not have that option, and was essentially forced to go the route of a new stadium proposal. And that the NCAA will pick up and move if this is not done.

Now tell me, if you lived in Omaha, would this sort of political crap get you excited about spending $140MM?

The point of my original post in this thread was that calling the people who oppose the deal stupid f#cks is not helping matters, and I would suggest that those sheeple that just follow without asking for answers to the afformentioned inconsistencies are the stupid f#cks.

It appears that it is a done deal, and I hope it all works out for Omaha. I certainly think a new stadium would be nice, but I understand the opposition, and its not due to the people thinking Rosenbladt is some kind of a shrine.

Actually, my relationship with the Fahey family is exactly why I haven't commented on it. Didn't feel the need to bring it up, since I chose to recuse myself from the discussion. Never intended to bring it up. I just steered clear.

But since you went fishing for a reason, there it is. My position is tainted/biased, so I stayed out of it. I appreciate you valuing my opinion so much though, that you felt empty without it. You kept probing and probing, so I gave you the truth.

Oh, and I have a job, don't live with mommy, wife is college educated, graduated from Creighton, and hopefully my investor friend does make me a lot more money. So, good try, but wrong again.

You'll get something right one of these days, Father of the Year!

Father of the Year!

I'll take that award and have my speech ready tomorrow.

I knew you would come up with some lame excuse that you are a distinguished member of the extended family of the mayor and have had an affair with Barack Obama's cousin Narack Obama. (Male)

You are the most pathetic wannabe that has ever graced this board with screen name.

HEY EVERYONE, VRANGED IS RELATED TO THE MAYOR NOW AND HOLDS HIM DEAR TO HIS HEART. SO WATCH WHAT YOU SAY BECAUSE HE IS SENSITIVE TO NEGATIVITY TOWARDS HIM.

The only problem with the cities that you mention is that they all support a major league baseball team. I don't think that you can gamble that the support will be there. What happens if the Cubs, White Sox and the College World Series all play the same day?

KC barely supports the Royals, and Atlanta has the "always in the hunt" Braves. Who wins out there?

No, I went to school with one of the Fahey kids, and am friends with him. If I was interested in bragging about it, I would have said "I'm not talking about the stadium b/c me and the Mayor are so tight". But I didn't. I kept quiet. But you apparently really need my opinion, so you kept fishing and fishing. There's the answer.

You impress easily, don't you, Dwight? I guess when your life consists of making up lies to make yourself feel better, you really get impressed with mundane things.

By the way, your Alex Gordon story was great. YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO KNOWS ALEX GORDON!!!! Can I have your autograph?

THat's the difference. I had no interest in telling anyone about Fahey, but you try to impress with some boring-ass Alex Gordon story.

So desperate, Dwight. Keep it up -- you have no idea how much you're exposing yourself even more for the clueless idiot you are.

Since you don't have a job I recommend you apply at the trash service to ride off the back of one of their trucks as a helper.

After that last post you are definetely a candidate for being a trashman.

Just pure garbage with nothing pertinent of note.

There has been enough garbage spewed by you on this board to make a small mountain or a large hill.

And, might I add. I Seriously (your fav word) doubt the Fahey's would want to be associated with a man that comes to this board and posts like you do.

Nice job in covering up your personal stuff.

I know this is the perception, but do actually have a source showing this? I've never actually seen, in news print, a quote where he's elaborated this much on it.

Everything I've seen has been along the lines "well, this project is worth a lot of money to the city" type talk.

I recall an article in the Omaha World Herald where Fahey implied that, and the NCAA spokesman confirms that with his comments. Additionally, the first sentence of the article implies that as well......

"An NCAA official said Omaha doesn't have to build a new stadium in order to keep the College World Series, despite what city leaders have said repeatedly in pushing for a downtown ballpark."

Yeah, I agree I've read things that kind of imply it...no doubt it's probably true, but I just got to thinking I've never seen a real convincingly, direct comment from the city stating the NCAA is pushing them that way. I think they've alluded to that and made people believe it without actually stating it.

Of course the NCAA is going to PUBLICLY state that they have nothing to do with it. They want to come off as the innocent bystander in all this.

But if you look back at all the major renovation projects done over the years at Rosenblatt, guess who went to the city and said "we want this, this and this"? This just in . . . it wasn't the tooth fairy.

Don't buy for one minute what the NCAA is selling regarding their non-involvement in this.

I agree. That's going back to what I said earlier. Essentially there are two sets of discussions.

1. The public comments/discussion

2. The real comments/discussion behind closed doors

Now what's happened is there is a small public uproar and the NCAA doesn't want to look like they are meddling.

I think BOTH sides are guilty, however. I think the NCAA is obviously licking their chops and the potential new venue and larger revenue stream and I think think that the business owners who have Fahey in their pocket are licking their chops because they stand do make a big chunk of dough.

I honestly think they all thought the city would be at least as accepting of this as they were with the Qwest because of the history and holy grail nature of the CWS in Omaha.

Too bad vranged won't interject his opinion. I'd be curious what his thoughts are being MUCH more in touch with the local politics and even GP comments than what I've paid attention to.
