I know most of you (including me) are at least a little tired of hearing all the negatives that relate to any media that is Barry Bonds. But as some of you may know already...he will play again on some MLB team this season. Let's speculate which team will gamble on BB's circus appeal. I am thinking the Baltimore Orioles are interested. The local media seems to think so but the owner is tight as a virgin and if the price is anything but dirt cheap you can count the birds out. My second guess is the Toronto Bluejays. (funny how both teams have bird mascots) Maybe it's a sign for BB to fly away? |

Baltimore makes sense b/c they're pretty much irrelevant this season, and Bonds might get some people out to the ballpark.
I think the Mets should sign him still, with Moises Alou injured. He's the perfect OBP guy to bat after Reyes, and before Wright, Beltran, Delgado, etc. He'll only have to play 100 games or so. The media would be disastrous, but I'm looking at this solely from a baseball perspective, which will likely be trumped by the circus ownership would think he'd create (and they'd be right).
Tampa Bay had been mentioned, but not sure why you want to mess with the chemistry there, given that they're one of the most talented YOUNG team around. You don't bring Bonds in to mentor youth. But, again, from a baseball perspective, he's a good fit in Tampa.
If I had to bet, I'd say he goes without a job when the season starts, and then in June, some contender trying to fill a hole in the line-up will pick him up. There is, however, a chance he's done for good though.
What a shame that the best two players of the last 30 years (Bonds and Clemens) are such trainwrecks. |

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up! |

If I am a NL team I don't gamble on that knee. Let alone any miscellaneous issues from the steroid issue.
I could see a number of teams pursuing him...including the Yankees even. However, if I had to pick a team right now...I couldn't say I have much of a feel for it. |

How true that is. |
