I infer that when Bugs says "no one else has any idea", he means no lay people, because the one's that should (and probably do) have the answers to the questions, are not sharing.

I will guaranty to you that the membership of the chamber have not combed through the numbers. They are throwing their support based on not wanting to lose the event, not that it's "safe for the taxpayers".

Just taking jabs at everyone now. So funny.

He's a cornered rabid dog about ready to get put to sleep, but he keeps fighting!!!

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

So in reality most here are just throwing theories at each other. 'The numbers are wrong', 'The Chamber doesn't care', 'The mayor is lying', 'It's not really profitable anyway'... all complete BS statements that you couldn't prove or deny at all. You are all free to have your own opinions about the legitimacy of the proposal, the mayor, the NCAA, the profits, and your mom... in the end it's all nothing but semi-witty banter that has absolutely no bearing on what happens in reality.

I will agree that no matter what is said, more than likely the ballpark will be made, and more than likely it will be successful. I'm sure that all you conspiracy theorists will have no problem screaming 'I told you so' if taxes have to be raised a bit or if it's not an immediate success. I certainly hope that everyone on the forum, like myself, aren't going to be losing sleep over it. You, quite simply, have no say this time.

Well, I think when you say "it will more than likely be successful", it really depends on how you define success. Do you believe the last 10 years of Omaha hosting the CWS has been "fiscally successful".......ie. it brings in more money that it spends to host the event?

Or is success just that Omaha is in the spotlight of college baseball for 2 weeks?

I "know" the answer to my first part. Do you?

And the best way to predict future results is to look at the past and historic trends. That is how I "know" the chamber as a whole did not look at the "numbers" in detail. If they had, they would be wondering how in the world do you have a $36MM annual net profit turnaround when overhead will be more, depreciation will be more, debt service will be more, etc., yet the revenue sources will be roughly the same, except for the annual "name recognition" advertisment of $8MM. That's annual, not a one-time contribution.

Who the hell is going to commit to that?

You are absolutely correct.....so those who oppose should just shut the f%ck up and let government do what government does? Since its going to happen anyway? That's not the way we live in this country.

They have as much right to be heard as anyone who supports it. Their position has as much validity as those who support it because "we can't lose the CWS". The name calling is ridiculous. Calling someone an idiot because they don't follow in the sheeple herd is uncalled for.

Maybe if we all questioned how the f$ck our government spends our money, we wouldn't have deficit spending..... our dollar might be worth more, and we wouldn't be in an economic turmoil.

And the big thing is why don't they just answer the f$cking questions.....shut those idiot opponents up.....give them what they want? Answers.

You know what? F*ck you. This is the exact attitude that nearly got me banned from another forum. If you're just going to show up and wave your finger in my face and say "HA HA YOU LOSE" then just don't bother posting here about it at all, dipsh*t.

BTW, the president of the chamber of commerce was on Matt's show today and made the statement "if you don't ever walk through the door of the CWS, this stadium wont cost you a nickel". I wonder if I can get that in writing.

questions, questions questions....if the new stadium is built, certainly 20 years from now it will be in need of some repairs, more expense not mentioned. If Rosenblatt is kept, is it safe to assume with all the "love" for the old stadium that Creighton and the Royals will play before a sold out crowd from this day forward? Did the run down sewer system east of 72nd street suddenly fix itself? Maybe "Saddam" Fahey plans on invading more towns in Douglas county, that have NO desire to be part of Omaha, to generate more tax revenue? Was David Sokol really ever against a new stadium, or was it an issue of power? The big wigs seem worried about losing the CWS, why are'nt they worried about losing the Royals? I live in Gretma, I have learned in the past 15 years that "growth" and "progress" comes with a price. My property taxes have gone up $1100 in this time span, the city imposed a 1/2% sales tax last year. Yet every day I sit in traffic because we still have the same 2 lane highway leading in and out of town as we did 45 years ago. Every question the citizens of Omaha ask deserves a straight froward answer. Yelling, jeering and heckling the mayor at a public forum isn't productive, neither is a recall effort. From the outside looking in, my main question is why is Fahey ram-rodding and rushing this project? One would think, if the city was proposing a new stadium, would'nt the NCAA grant them a little time to research it to make sure its done right?

Dumbass Dwight...the forever self-conflicting one. Wants to mend fences, then talks garbage elsewhere. Pathetic soul, that D.D.

And, for the zillionth time, I never lived IN Sioux City, nor do I live there now. I live right here in metro Omaha, and happily so.

The next time you're right about me, Dumbass Dwight, will be the first one.
