It'll be interesting to see what the final result is...one report says 2nd and 6th rounder.

Good move on the Falcons part for sure, but I am not sure it's the best for the Raiders. This guy doesn't crack my Top 5 for league CB's. And after this season they'll have to pay top dollar to keep him. Another costly move by a team that is trying to buy their way into the playoffs.

Not a bad move from a personnel perspective in terms of talent. Definitely a gamble in terms of character. But from a GM perspective...I think they are just digging their grave deeper.

Yeah, I tend to agree with Vranged on this one as well, but then we haven't seen the contract that goes along with the 2nd and 6th rounder they're giving up. But a quality player.

I think Hall needed to get out of Atlanta, given his support for Mike Vick. I would imagine he gets to take his pit bulls with him?

Counting the Herd one hoof at a time.

It would be a good move if Hall was the one of the final pieces to the puzzle for them, but they still have a lot of questions on offense. At any rate, they'll probably finish higher than KC next year.

It doesn't make sense.

They were 8th overall in passing defense. They need run-stoppers on defense. Pass protection on offense and a viable air attack which will be questionable next year with an untested Russell and few WR threats.

Didn't the Raiders sign Drew Carter and Javon Walker? Those are two good receiving threats (if I'm right about them signing with Oakland). So, that's some improvement.

You can never have enough good defensive backs, in my opinion. By getting a shut-down CB, that'll allow linebackers to inch up on the run all the more, so it could have an indirect impact on the quality of the run defense.

Plus, they signed Tommy Kelly!!!!!!!!

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up!

They did, at least Walker, never followed up on Carter, but I believe you're right.

I guess I see Walker as a gamble. His health is a question mark and even prior to Denver he really only ever had one "great" season. So, I think it's an upgrade over Porter...but there is still a lot of grey there.

However, I think the real overall team question mark is still the pass protection and Russell even if I give you the Walker upgrade.

Maybe...although, if you look back at 2006 they were #1 overall in defensive passing and their rushing defense suffered then too.

Also, just as a parallel comparison Denver 2007, who has two highly touted CB's had the same problem. High rated pass defense with an atrocity for run defense.

Personally, I think they need d-line help with the run more than anything. Which, iirc, is what Denver is addressing now. Their ever questionable d-line.

Plus, they signed Tommy Kelly!!!!!!!!

TRUE! lol

I guess so, IMO he was retired a couple years ago, he just didn't want to give up the money. I'm cynical like that though.

It just tells me they're going to be looking for OL and DT in the draft, same as KC, and since they're picking ahead I can see a very frustrating draft coming up.

Well, yeah, and guys you can plug in come in the first two rounds. So, they'll get their first rounder, then they don't pick again until the 4th.

It's certainly obvious their list of prospects is short for their pick.

Heading over to ESPN to check the list of kickers now...

Damn, I wasn't taking into consideration they just traded away their 2nd, that helps. KC has way more holes anyway, they really should just draft BPA anyway.

Exactly, my beef with the trade isn't so much from the talent perspective. It's from the character issue / GM perspective and the fact that it doesn't seem to be their primary areas of need.

And the retardation continues with the signing of MeAngelo Hall equating to a $70M contract, $24M in guarantees, I can't WAIT to see Oakland fail miserably and fans calling for Al Davis' head. At this point, that's the way he deserves to end his legacy.

Is that deal finalized now? At least no one can accuse the Crypt Keeper of being a cheapskate. I wonder where they're at salary cap-wise.
