I think the solution is high ticket prices, high parking passes, $10 12 oz beer, $15 hot dogs, $8 sodas, AND raise the local's property taxes, wheel tax, sales tax, and vehicle registration fees. Good luck Omaha.

Creighton can only play two games at Rosenblatt because the NCAA won't let a member institution use a venue that is being used for their championship events more than 3 times per season, which is why they only play 2 at Rosenblatt with Nebraska and 1 at Haymarket.

As far as the public funding goes...from what I'm able to surmise, the city was taking the county's keno money over regardless of this stadium's future, so if the county is raising taxes to make up for lost keno revenue they were going to do that anyway, so as much as I'd like to say Fahey's getting the county to take the hit for raising taxes, obviously that's not the case.

And I love how the hotel people are all up in arms about the 1 percent increase in hotel taxes. These are the same bloodsuckers that rape people with inflated room rates during events such as this. They charge 3-4 times normal rates during the CWS, and if I had a dollar for every wrestling fan in the state that's buddyed and moaned about the jacked-up prices they face every February, I could pay for this stadium myself.

Then why in the executive proposal does it make the assumption that Creigh'un would be a tenant for all their home games?

Key Assumptions:
􀂾 New/RenovatedStadium willHost FollowingTenants
􀀹 College World Series (CWS)
􀀹 Omaha Royals (Royals)
􀀹 Creighton University (Creighton) – Full Season

I've tried to get clarification on this issue, but I can't seem to get a straight answer.

So many questions, so few answers. It sure is funny how you out-of-staters can grasp these issues, but so many here in town can't.

Frankly, if it was up to me, we'd raze Rosenblatt, build a smaller stadium downtown for CU and the Royals, and tell the NCAA to go pound sand.

Hey now, we would love to have a bigger city across the river to suck off of, but we don't.

Alan Stein, president of the Royals, is on Matt's show right now and said nobody has presented anything to them yet. Way to stay on top of things Fahey.

What? I thought Fahey had all the bases covered (no pun intended).

Well I decided to email Mr Fahey and ask him what exactly his plan is.

He sent me this:

With the ban on smoking in Nebraska, Casinos are out of the picture for good!

I think the Council Bluffs Convention and Visitors Association are buying up all the billboards between Eppley and the Qwest as we speak!

It's my fault," said first-year Nebraska coach Bo Pelini. "Damn right, yes, I'm embarrassed. I apologized to the team. I apologize to the state of Nebraska. I apologize to everyone associated with Nebraska football.
"It's my responsibility. I was hired to do a job and I didn't do the job, I'm just not a very good coach.

Don't doubt for one minute that the inn keepers in CB won't make a killing off the the fact Omaha will soon have the highest lodging tax in the nation!

Sooo..Mike Fahey has screwed us again. He owns American Land and Title which has the lease on the Qwest Center. And, the proposed "new" site for the CWS. We still owe 11 million on the "improvements" to Rosenblatt. Was this broken? Why are we moving it? Fix the bathrooms and consession area. Duh. Now we are going to build Creighton a new baseball stadium. And, we get to pay for it. No wait...we are going to add tax to hotels and rental cars. The people we are trying to attract we are going to charge more? Fahey for President! How's that going to work? Trust me, if I were with the CWS or the Omaha Royals and told I had to move. I would move...to a new city.

Keep in mind...Capacity will start at 24,000, so several years into the new commitment the NCAA will say add seats otherwise we'll entertain offers from cities who'll build bigger.

The Omaha Royals want no bigger than 7,500. They'll move. The NCAA wants more than 25'000. They'll move too. I have never been to a Creighton baseball game. And, I can guarantee...they'll never get 25'000 to. Been to Lincoln? They only get about 5'500. And they were good.

And that's exactly why we need to tell the NCAA to go pound sand. All we're doing is ensuring we'll have to continue catering to them for a couple more decades. A smaller stadium with two full time tenants (CU, Royals) would go much farther towards downtown revitalization than a two week ass-kissing every year.

Sorry to keep beating a dead horse but, what about the traffic? Have you ever been to a city with 11 stop lights on the way to the airport? Omaha does now b/c of the Qwest. What happens with the new baseball stadium. 19? Nine times out of 10 I am late getting to the airport. So. The infrastructure around the Qwest and the baseball stadium will have to be changed too. More tax. Or, leave very, very early for your flight.

11? Really? I've never counted them. You could always go the back way on the north freeway.
