Fellas did you hear the ZOO DONORS are gonna save the day and make up a large chunk of private funding?!?!?

So when there's a property tax spike to cover revenue shortcomings (aka unrealistic projections) in 2012 we have a scapegoat!! Brilliant!!!

I'd say some of you are undeniably paranoid and untrusting souls from the word go.

$127 mil, does anyone honestly think the price tag won't jump another 20 mil before this is completed.

If memory serves correct the Qwest was a huge victim of cost overruns.

Is the City taking over the Keno regardless of this stadium deal?

It doesn't appear so, Fahey is terminating the current agreement in order to help pay for the stadium. Motherf*ckers just jacked up my valuation $25K last year to the tune of $400 more per year in property taxes, and it sounds like I'm going to get hit again because of this.

Anyone see the capacity for the new stadium? I didn't see that on the website.

My biggest question on the new stadium would be how they arrived at a $37.6M for stadium revenue.

Additionally, it referenced tenants as the college world series, the Omaha Royals and Creighton. Has Creighton committed to play their home games at this facility, or is that just an assumption?

I'm guessing the lease with the NCAA, lease with Creighton and lease with the Royals would be the revenue sources, but $37.6MM seems a tad bit high, doesn't it? Or does the City of Omaha get a percentage of the gate revenues from the College World Series?

I don't know an exact number, but I think capacity is supposed to be around 20,000. As far as how they arrived at ANY of the numbers, who the hell knows. IMO it's all smoke and mirrors so it hardly matters.

I was assuming the $37.6M included those tenants along with projected revenue from concerts and other functions as well as parking and vendor revenues.

Does Creighton play in Rosenblatt now? Maybe they are using the tenancy numbers from that contract.

Again, who the hell knows. When Alan Stein was on the four digit station he said the Royals would consider playing there, but there would have to be major concessions if they are supposed to move out for the CWS again. I translated that as: we're not paying the going rate for it.

Here are the figures provided:

Premium Seating $16.4MM
Naming Rights Avertising $ 8.9MM
Seat Tax $ 4.6MM
Parking $ 3.4MM
Miscellaneous $ 7.1MM
Tenant Contribution to be determined
Expenses <$4.7MM>

Creigh'un does not currently play there....they have their own field.

CU usually plays a series with Nebraska once a year at the 'blatt, but other than that they play on a converted parking lot on campus. I heard the committee figured CU playing 20 games a year at the new stadium, but I have no idea where they got that from because there has been no official word from CU.

Ok, so they aren't even taking tenancy dollars into account. That is a fair breakdown.

Considering a 6 year historical P&L of Operations shows an average of $700,000 in the red, those figures might be a little optimistic.

Gross receipts average $650,000, so it appears the cost to those who want to attend games will sky-rocket.......if in fact tax payers aren't expected to front the bill.

It's what I do, Midge.

Yes Bugs, you are the real bean counter. You made reference that the affordability of the events at the Qwest was unreasonable and it appears that this deal will have the same issues. A $35.7MM swing in net profit is quite a dramatic change, even with new ammenities and a nicer atmosphere. I've seen a lot of business plans in my day, but those kinds of projections above actual historical trends seems a little far fetched.

It would be interesting to see a detailed break-down of anticipated ticket sales, prices, etc. Granted the projections are assuming Creigh'un is on board to play all their home games there, and some stupid local business is going to pay $9MM a year to have their name on the thing (unrealistic), but still.

I'm with you Bugs, this looks like they just slapped some stuff together in hopes that it sticks with the public.
