I thought we could just mirror the new Dallas Cowboys stadium and put a baseball flavor to it. I think we would need more than 2% entertsinment tax though.. http://stadium.dallascowboys.com/ . |

Might as well throw a monorail in too.
Well, sir, there's nothing on earth Like a genuine, Bona fide, Electrified, Six-car Monorail! ... What'd I say? Monorail! What's it called? Monorail! That's right! Monorail! I hear those things are awfully loud... It glides as softly as a cloud. Is there a chance the track could bend? Not on your life, my Hindu friend. What about us brain-dead slobs? You'll all be given cushy jobs. Were you sent here by the devil? No, good sir, I'm on the level. The ring came off my pudding can. Take my pen knife, my good man. I swear it's Springfield's only choice... Throw up your hands and raise your voice! Monorail! What's it called? Monorail! Once again... Monorail! But Main Street's still all cracked and broken... Sorry, Mom, the mob has spoken! Monorail! Monorail! Monorail! Monorail! |

The public snow job starts at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Public forums are set for March 6, 8 and 10.
I hate to say this, but it's time to put Hal Daub back in office. At least with him we would have an idiot we can trust. |

| lol, I don't know if it will have a forum. I'm not necessarily dead-set against the stadium if there's a way to do it that's fiscally responsible, but right now I don't think there is. |

How's that for fiscal responsibility? |

If Warren Buffett writes a check to cover everything, that's fiscally responsible enough for me.
I'd ask Fahey to do it, but I'm sure his bank account is about as solid as his reputation for honesty... |

What burns me is that for the new stadium the publicly funded costs are $59 million. For a Renovated Rosenblatt the publicly funded costs are $59 million. Don't you think it's a coincidence that the money being paid by the people is the same for either option. This is only going to get people to oh, well, if we're going to be paying the same for a new stadium.....might as well go that way. But, this begs the question...if the new stadium is getting $43 million in private funds, where do all the private funds go for a Rosenblatt renovation??$43 million and $59 million go well over the $85 million cost for Rosenblatt.....I'm tellin you now, Strange things are a foot at the circle K. That stadium committe is giving a screw job and making a new stadium the only option. I hope the public sees that Mr Stinson, Mayor Fahy, and Jack Deising jr think the Omaha public is stupid and throwing us for a loop. Peace out!! |

I am not getting where your numbers add up...at least in reference to the private dollars for Rosenblatt. I get that you are saying public cost is $59M either way. I get where you are saying there is supposedly $43M for the new stadium on the private side, but why does that mean there has to be any private funding for the Rosenblatt renovation? My guess is, and I don't know the numbers, so feel free to link an article or something, that the reason they got the private funding was to make the cost equal to the public either way. It's not at all uncommon for private funding to be specific to one project and not eligible for the other. Actually, I am surprised they didn't raise more private funds to make the public number smaller for the new stadium. |

| In actuality, if the costs are the same for the tax payer, why not go for the new stadium? Unless the figures for the renovation project are being deliberately inflated to make the comparison. So I think what you're saying chubbs is that you don't trust the renovation project numbers? |

Here's where the snow job is:
The Mayor is saying he won't increase property taxes because of this. Ok, fine, he's not. But he IS using $28M in Keno money that the city will get since they are taking control of it from the county.
What does that mean you say?
It means the county will raise property taxes to make up for the lost Keno revenue. Very slick, Mr. Fahey.

Crit40 has the idea! The $43 million in private funds came from the press conf. No private funding numbers came across for the renovation. Most likely, because that plan has been pretty much taken off the board. I understand that private funds would be different for each project, but $43 million to $0 millions. Seems a little too convenient for Fahy and his committee, don't you think? Like Ctri40 said, if the costs are the same for the tax payer, why not go for the new stadium? Thats what they want everyone to think. So they get their damn stadium. |

| Is the City taking over the Keno regardless of this stadium deal? If so, the county will probably raise your property taxes anyway. |

Um, no, not convenient at all....like I said, I've been around for a number of these local debates and it's not at all uncommon for private funding to step in for one side of an issue and not the other.
I am not saying that it's not coincidental...I am sure it's quite deliberate, but conversely it's not like it appears anyone is interested in funding a renovation. I don't think I've ever heard of a private funded renovation...private funding is almost always exclusively toward new development. |

This seems like the more legit concern. Private funding whining...meh, that happens all the time in these situations. |

| Once this new stadium debate began, we all new the property tax was going up. This was a given. It doesn't matter whos doing it, we knew it was coming. All part of Fahey's slick little plan!! |
