"The NCAA is holding a gun to the city's head so we might as well do what lines the most pockets of Omaha's high rollers. Dr. Simmons needs room for more climate domes and hopefully a panda or two. The city cannot tolerate people parking for free in the neighborhoods around Rosenblatt and only the common people profiting from fans parking in their driveways. Ten bucks a spot times tens days of baseball--you do the math. The visitors from LSU need more to do than just watch baseball. They need to go see an indie movie or a crap emo band at Conor Oberstland across the street. It's not like it's 100% certain property taxes will be hiked to pay for the new ballpark. After all, when the price tag was first thrown out there it was only in the $20 million range. So we went to Washington, DC to check out the Nats' new yard and we came back with stars in our eyes! Sue us." |

| Nailed it. You know who has the pull in this town. The Zoo and the NCAA. Fahey is obviously just a pawn for both of them. The NCAA for one, can take a f*cking hike if that's the case. The CWS leaving will have 0 impact on my life. If we build a gazillion dollar stadium downtown strictly for the CWS, and it takes a single f*cking dollar out of my pocket, I swear to f*cking god I will move out of the f*cking town. |

What news conference? Oh you mean the no comment, no comment, we can't talk about that yet, but were building something near the Qwest but can't tell you about it, thing this afternoon? I was shocked and felt embarrassed for my neighbors to the west when the Mayor and his Chief Shill began talking but wouldn't answer many of the questions the press had to ask. They might has well had just put out a press release and left it at that. It is apparent the only option the Mayor wanted presented to him was a shiny new park downtown, so he loaded the committee with his "shills" and guess what, he got what he wanted. When the press conference was finally put out of its misery I kept wondering just how much is this really going to cost? The cost has rocketed from 50 mil to 90 mil to 120 mil to 140 mil, my guess is now upwards of 200 mil before it is over and that won't include the major realignment of streets and overpasses that will need to be built. At what cost does the price tag become too much for Omaha to afford? |

I see there is a recall Fahey website up...I understand the anger but they're going after the wrong bad guy. Fahey takes his marching orders from the NCAA first, because he doesn't want to be known as the mayor who let the CWS get away.
But that won't stop me from voting for Hal Daub next year. |

I used to think Hal Daub was the biggest idiot in the Omaha political scene. Right now, he's a freakin' GENIUS compared to Mayor Mick Forehead.
Monday's news conference was the biggest snow job in the history of Omaha politics. Fahey is the emperor with no clothes if he thinks anybody with half a brain buys this box of bullsh*t his rubber-stamp committee put out yesterday.
And I hate to agree with you, turducken...but even I would vote for Hal Daub right now. |

An honest an open discussion of the situation, for one thing. Neither Fahey, MECA's board OR the NCAA is capable of being up-front with everybody on this issue, so ANYTHING that is proposed by any of these dunderheads automatically gets the jaundiced eye from me.
I will say that I agree that a new, more versatile stadium is needed. Rosenblatt is pretty much land-locked and the CWS has outgrown the facility, but I'm not sure a downtown stadium is the right answer because it's such a clusterf*ck as it is with parking at the Qwest Center now, and you're going to take space away to build a stadium there?
There is an answer out there, but none of the powers that be are capable of being up-front with those of us who will be footing the bill. And if you buy the line of b.s. that no tax dollars are going to be used to build this stadium, you're a complete idiot. |

| So not disclosing information is your main issue with Mayor Fahey and his committee? |

Absolutely, it reeks of a railroad job. I also think that whatever proposal is put on the table should be put to a vote by the people who are going to pay for it. |

Absolutely, it reeks of a railroad job. I also think that whatever proposal is put on the table should be put to a vote by the people who are going to pay for it. This is off the RecallFahey website. Omaha mayor Mike Fahey thinks he doesn't have to get the approval of the people before spending some $140 million of the people's money. Recently he said his biggest concern was a drawn-out legal battle over HIS stadium plans. We need to recall him now...before Fahey irreparably ruins Omaha's finances for years to come. Are we going to let Mike Fahey run our city into years of debt for something only he, a few of his cronies, and a few special interests want, while we (the citizens--the ones who pay the bills) are arrogantly dismissed and ignored. ...and he sticks us with having to pay for it for years to come, and for years after he's long-gone from office? This is about the honesty and ethics in our government... This is about our government being responsive to those of us being governed... This is about openness and transparency of government officials' actions... Does anyone agree with this? |

| The petition pushers who congregate outside the stadium during the CWS will find their "special purpose" this June. |

The Stadium will be built.
So I'd suggest you wipe the sh1t out of your drawers and move on. Every tax dollar spent on this venture will be used to keep the College World Series in Omaha. Why is that so hard to fathom? What makes people think that spending money to keep money in Omaha is a bad thing?
And why do the citizens of Omaha think they deserve to see the blueprints and particulars? Can we make the details of your personal blueprints public? I doubt it, get over it and sip another brew. |

I tend to agree it's coming and it's going to be named Fahey Family Friendly Stadium and the people of Omaha just need to shut up, open up their check books and get over it. How dare they: Ask about the honesty and ethics in our government... How dare they question about our government being responsive to those of us being governed... How dare they question the openness and transparency of government officials' actions... It's Fahey Field and don't forget it! Play ball!!!!!! Hopefully if the Zoo gets the old Rosenblatt site they cough up a couple of those red ass monkeys so that the new FFFS can have a monkey house out in the center field and they can do a little dance whenever someone hits a homerun! |
