The main credit I really give to Kansas goes to Self for not calling a time out himself. I think Calipari was surprised by that move. And I hate it, hate it, hate it when offense calls a time out in that situation and gives the defense time to set up.
Nope, he let his team go down and win. Momentum is the offense's favor in that situation. You coach your kids that way and force defense to call the time out so THEY can setup. |

| Everybody keeps blaming Memphis. How about Kansas making every single play down the stretch? It had to work out almost perfectly for the Jayhawks, and they executed incredibly. Chalmers made a very difficult shot, in a great pressure situation, with a defender playing solid defense. Does he make that 2 out of 10 times? The Jayhawks came though more than Memphis "choked", in my opinion. |

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up! |

Because had Memphis played their cards right and executed just once more then none of KU's execution would have mattered. Memphis had the position to lock in the win and they failed. Without the failure, KU can execute all day long and they go home a loser. |

All Rose had to do was make that first free throw and the whole discussion is moot.

Freakin' grow a pair and take a side! I agree it's the perfect storm of the two. I don't think vranged's point is invalid, but I think if push comes to shove, considering the position they were in and having the upper hand, ultimately it's their mistake that opens the door. Doesn't really matter... |

Memphis's mistakes are amplified because of their timing. Kansas didn't play very well earlier in the game, but peaked at the right time. Memphis played better earlier, but made mistakes at the wrong time. It's a combination.
But I still think Kansas won the game, because they made the plays. Yes, the plays were relevant b/c of Memphis's mistakes, but that's basketball. Every team makes mistakes, and the opponent has to capitalize. KU did, and are National Champions. |

I whole heartedly agree with your assessment Vranged, although I actually thought KU played decent the first half. They were leading at half-time. They fell apart in the second half and got a second wind in the final 3 minutes, where Memphis hit the wall.
KU hit the shots they needed in the end, at the hands of Memphis mistakes. It's a game.....sh!t happens. |
