If your talking all time it has to be: Merle Harmon & Al DeRogatis. Current Sportscasters it would have to be: John Saunders & Craig James |

Ummmmm??? I broke it down for people like you who are the type of person who has difficulty working/thinking independently so I gave you the list of announcers to choose from. Yeah I know it is a new way of thinking Electoral College like sorry I did not mean to confuse you. Let me break this down for you the two most common ways are: • The elector is nominated. • The elector "campaigns" for a spot and the decision is made during a vote. If you read it all I also asked for ones that I missed. |

Keith Jackson = all-time best. Not a big Musberger guy. Herbstreit's good on the Thursday night games. But for Nebraska games, any TV guy is preferable. Turn down your radio and turn up your television, I say. |

"Perhaps the worst thing that can happen is to reach into the refrigerator and come out with something that you cannot identify at all. You literally do not know what it is. Could be meat, could be cake. Usually, at a time like that, I'll bluff. "Honey, is this good?" "Well, what is it?" "I don't know. I've never seen anything like it. It looks like...meatcake!" "Well, smell it." (snort, sniff) "It has absolutely no smell whatsoever!" "It's good! Put it back! Somebody is saving it. It'll turn up in something." Thats what frightens me. That someone will consider it a challenge and use it just because it's in there." -- George Carlin |

Honestly, by and large the legendary radio guys are much better collectively.
Keith Jackson would probably be my pick for a national coverage guy. |

Expanding this discussion to personalities other than those who call college football games, in my humble (?) opinion, there isn't a better broadcaster -- whether it's golf, college football, NFL, the NBA, or in-studio -- than Mike Tirico. He makes it the most interesting. Pat Hughes (sp?), the guy teamed with Ron Santo on Cubs radio broadcasts, is very good too....surprisingly funny for an old guy.
There are very few broadcasters, or ESPN anchors, that I dislike. Those that made the list are: Ken Harrelson ("you can put it on the board.....YES!!!") from the White Sox (annoying); that lady who does the Yankees games (nails on a chalkboard voice); and Stuart Scott (his exchanges with John Madden on NFL Live have re-defined awkwardness).

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up! |

| my favorite of all time is al micheals, 1980 us hockey team calls will never be topped, followed closely by cosell. for some reason i always loved listening to cosell as a kid, on mnf or interviewing ali, he was the consumate professional. as far as favorite color man i'm going with dan dierdorff, no one else stands out in my mind except for dandy don and i can't say he stands out for good reasons. i always hated hearing him sing "turn out the lights, the party's over". |

Howard, Dandy and the Giff were the best all time group of announcers to broadcast any football game. |

I could have done without Howard, but Dandy Don (just inducted into the pro football broadcaster HOF) and Kathy Lee's hubby were top notch! (when I was a kid, my dad made us turn down the volume and just watch the game cause he couldn't stand Howard's annoying commentating.) I tend to like Herbie for a color guy. I have to agree with Vranged though, Tirico is excellent. NFL - Drunken Pat Summerall and John "can I quote that" Madden are the best. Nantz and Simms....enjoyed the back and forth on the OT rule, but otherwise, not so much. |

| Yeah, it's just that with him the brilliant comments come with the excess baggage. If he was good enough to know which ones would stick he'd be almost in Yogi Berra territory. |
