| Don Shula found it legitimate. He's the winningest coach of all time. He knows football, doesn't he? |
|
After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up! |

Mercury Morris, Don Shula and all those aging (aged) ole' warriors need to just stop it. Mike Golic talked about it the other day, they need to just stop it. Nobody wants to take into account that this Patriots team played a longer season and essentially broke their record already.
Don Shula is clearly biased and moma-henning his flock of bitter old champions. |

You said nobody who knows anything about football finds it legitimate. I pointed out that the winningest coach in NFL history did.
Sorry to prove you wrong. |

Steve Young is pretty damned pissed off about it. But he doesn't understand the game.
Cmon Omahan....first you tell us Tiki Barber won a Super Bowl and now you're trying to fling this monkey sh!t at us? Wrong, wrong, wrong.
I understand the game. I played it a number of years. Again, trying to decipher signals DURING a game is much much different than sending in a "secret agent" to video tape signals a week in advance to bring home and study. And if these tapings were done at actual games, I think there is much bigger issues of copyright infringement.

| Tiki Barber did win a Super Bowl -- according to Omahan's understanding of the game. It's as accurate as his understanding of Constitutional Law. Does the guy know anything (other than how to tarnish $45K decks)? |

If proving me wrong is your intention than I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities to do that. Wouldn't you rather prove your point?
The bantering ensues again...ah. |

What does Dman have to do with this thread? It's funny that you always comment on him, and compliment him. Hmmm.... You don't know this guy, yet you have almost all of his same opinions, write in exactly the same way he does, come up with the same stupid, ridiculous irrelevant comparisons (skiing in Belgium???), post a ridiculous amount of times like him, yet you're not him. Do you really think you're that much of a mastermind of deception, when you're not even good at it? Seriously, Dwight -- just give it up.
But I don't even care about that right now. It's not even worth responding to, since we all know you're him.
BAck to the topic (since you're the one who brought up Dman...hmmm???): Steve Young knows football and he says it's legitimate. What's your excuse for why his opinion doesn't count? |

You just called me him. How eloquent for you to forget that tidbit. At least be honest and frank in attack mode....you are obsessed with this guy Dman. You and not I. I would rather you not mention anything about it and talk sports. That would be nice, wouldn't it? |

Don't wanna answer the question, huh? I'm trying to talk sports, but obviously you have no answer to the question that destroys your position.
Typical. |

My thoughts on Steve Young's opinion on spygate were revealed in another thread just a moment ago. I'm sorry Crit40 I did not see that you had responded to me directly until now.
You mention to having played the game of football. And you never knew of any situation where coaches were attempting to read the other guys' mouths? You never bore witness to any situation where a coach was willing to do just about anything to gain an advantage for his team?
If you answer no to those questions, then I'd say you were blessed to have experienced some outstanding mentors. I have personally watched one coach I had tape our future opponents games not for the sake of just scouting the game plans and talent. But also to see if he could decipher the signals from the sideline to the field. I thought it was the norm because when I asked about it to others, I was told everyone did it and it was a part of the game.
Opinions, opinions and more opinions. Mine is: Spygate is overblown conspiracy that many are factually guilty of. Not all, but many. And when you go back into the ripe old age of football, back when Butkus could legally clothesline you and Brown would stiff arm your your retina out. It was very common then.

| Common or not -- do you at least acknowledge that it's still cheating, especially when you TAPE things in the manner the Pats allegedly did? Or, is your "hammer of dissent" so strong that you can't? |

It is what it is. Decide for yourself as I'm sure you will. There is a left wing group of radicals with orange jump suits on that would love to make your acqaintaince I'm sure of that. You are one driven guy. Problem is, I can't buy your product because I am not who you think I am. If you were selling houses you'd get sales simply from wearing people down. The emphasis the media has blown up is the usage of the camera. I happen to agree that that is taking it too far. But if I get the same information from binos that you recorded, yet another dimension of this ordeal is thrown out there. It is football to me. Right or wrong. Cheating or not. It is football. |

I don't view sign stealing as cheating if done within the current rule structure. If you can sit there during a game, or see patterns over a course of games, and document them then it's not cheating. I agree exactly with the NFL rules. If you can implore tactics that don't include video taping or photographing signals...it should be fair game. |
