Posted By Crit40 on 01/21/2008 12:45 PM I never really hated the Pats until Matt Perrault introduced them to the 7 state midland media market. I did state in another thread that I felt whoever won the NFC would win the Super Bowl, and I'll stick with that prediction. No way do the Pats go undefeated.
I hate the Pats, but I still want them to win despite my despise for Perrault. Mainly to STFU on the '72 Dolphins, so they can't pretend to legitimately be on their pedestal alone. Also, and this was just prior to this weekend, no way in hell do I want Rivers to win a ring. The more I watch him and hear him talk trash the more I dislike him. |

In my head, I think the Pats win. In my heart, I truly think that no other team matches up better with the Pats than the Giants. In order to beat the Pats, a team has to have a strong 4 man D rush (allowing for stronger pass coverage while still rattling Brady), a strong running game, and a mistake free offense. Additionally, NY's receivers could cause problems for NE's defensive backs. Plaxico "schooled" one of the best cover corners in the NFL yesterday with his size and physical play.
Addititionally, there is that New York/Boston rivalry, with NY wanting to prove something.
And finally, I think shy Eli Manning will avoid all the Super Bowl hoopla, maintaining his focus on the game, while pretty boy Brady soaks it all in......and the young Manning outplays Tommy Brady on Super Bowl Sunday.

10 road wins in a row....that speaks volumes. Eli spoke in the post game about teams going on rolls and said this is their year for one. He is learning on the fly what it takes to win. You don't have to throw for 300 and your RB doesn't have to rush for 100. Smart football and a little luck can go a long way. |

No question it can...you're sure you're not Dman, right? Talking about luck... Anyway, I don't think being the QB who "manages games" is the QB who generally wins SB's. This is preceisely why I still don't rank him above Dilfer, yet. To beat New England the Giants have to limit mistakes, be aggressive and threaten New England. Being effective in the rez zone will be critical. This Giants team, if they beat New England, I think will likely do it one of two ways: 1. Be aggressive and threatening in the red zone and playing pressure D. 2. New England makes too many mental mistakes. I wouldn't bank on #2. And, I don't buy "luck" as a reason...for the most part, I think most games come down to basic execution or lack thereof. |

I just wanted to make the distinction that I was joking about it versus the normal run of the mill relentless antagonizing you've had from others...which, at least has subsided some in recent days.
Admittedly, I am still not 100% decided, but Dman or not...as long as you aren't spewing the idiocy that doorknob was under the Dman profile I can just be glad to have the spam cut down.
Now if we could only subdue the Seachicken vs. Excusester idiocy a notch... |

The dark Hoodie will Unleash the Force and stomp the Vertically challanged Giants By A Score of 44 to 2. The Giants only points via safty because brady takes a knee in the endzone |

"Perhaps the worst thing that can happen is to reach into the refrigerator and come out with something that you cannot identify at all. You literally do not know what it is. Could be meat, could be cake. Usually, at a time like that, I'll bluff. "Honey, is this good?" "Well, what is it?" "I don't know. I've never seen anything like it. It looks like...meatcake!" "Well, smell it." (snort, sniff) "It has absolutely no smell whatsoever!" "It's good! Put it back! Somebody is saving it. It'll turn up in something." Thats what frightens me. That someone will consider it a challenge and use it just because it's in there." -- George Carlin |

Dukester kept those fingers crossed and good things did indeed happen! I can hear Don Shula and the 72 Dolphins popping open that bottle of Champagne as I type! |
