| maybe dman is busy writing his next "why the huskers will win the national championship" thread. first he has to put in into a word document so he can spell and grammar check it, then he has to have his wife proof read it, then he posts it. that would have to take days. |

I have no problem with Quinn holding out for whatever he can get. In industry strikers do the same thing, I can hardly take offense to Mr. Quinn trying to scratch out a living, he could get injured next week then it's all over. |

I am inclined to think that while I am still unsure about how I feel Quinn will do in the future I do think he's a better prospect that what they have for QB now. I think at least he'll be Eli Manning material, but I don't see him being Peyton-esque. Their biggest problem right now is their front office and secondly their coach. I am just not convinced they have the pieces of the puzzle at top to put together the pieces at the bottom. Oh, and yeah, I could see AP winning ROY. |

| The Browns could take strides on offense. They're getting two potential impact offensive linemen in Joe Thomas and the return of that Bentley guy who got injured last year. Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow, Jr. are a year older, and potentially could be very good weapons. Running game is lacking, as I don't trust Jamal Lewis, but with a good O-line, he could be productive again. |

That's a very fair point. I kind of feel bad for Crennel actually and I shouldn't be overly critical of him quite yet. He seems to be in a lose-lose situation being in argueably the toughest division in the NFL and without a strong front office/ownership.
I think Crennel has demonstrated he knows how to fit the pieces of the puzzle together at the bottom. I think they have made good moves personnel-wise since he has came largely due to him. I am still uncertain about his overall ability to be a head coach though...hopefully he gets a chance after Cleveland. They are going to run him out too soon I think and I am not sure why...seriously, if you've sucked this long then what's another year or two of sub-par performance to give the guy time to see if he can do it.
I kind of made it sound like they need to run him off and that's not what I think...I think they need to give him 2 years and re-evaluate then because this ship isn't getting repaired quickly with as much damage as it had. |

Check out the footage of the only QB in the NFL that can bench press 350 lbs and run a 4.5 40. Familiarize yourselves with the 2007 NFL Rookie of the Year. Romeo Crennel had better let him play! Copy and Paste this one Vranged. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJgmeEH1lrE |

I don't know DMan. It all depends on the flip of the coin with Crennel. |

Big deal if he can bench press 350 and run a 4.5 40. While that's impressive for a QB it doesn't mean he can run an NFL offense.
I'll be impressed when he completes 60% of his passes, has a QB rating of 90+ a 2:1 TD to INT ratio. |

I think Quinn probably gets more of the blame than he should for Notre Dame not winning the "big game." The fact that the Irish defense has stunk the last couple years has more to do with it. Imo, Quinn has Notre Dame in position to beat USC his junior year, but Leinart drove USC down for the winning drive at the end of the game. And completed a fourth-and-long pass he had no business completing (a rare play that was well defended on that drive) to do it. More worrisome is the fact that he's with the Browns, a team that still lacks a lot of the supporting cast on offense, especially in that division. Braylon Edwards has some real promise, as does Kellen Winslow Jr. But they're lacking in other receiving threats, the offensive line has been shaky ever since the team came back into the league and they're now relying on a 28-going-on-48 Jamal Lewis to carry the load on the ground. They would have been better off trying to get a veteran QB rental for a couple of years, someone to keep the seat warm so that Quinn wouldn't get thrown to the wolves too early. |

"Perhaps the worst thing that can happen is to reach into the refrigerator and come out with something that you cannot identify at all. You literally do not know what it is. Could be meat, could be cake. Usually, at a time like that, I'll bluff. "Honey, is this good?" "Well, what is it?" "I don't know. I've never seen anything like it. It looks like...meatcake!" "Well, smell it." (snort, sniff) "It has absolutely no smell whatsoever!" "It's good! Put it back! Somebody is saving it. It'll turn up in something." Thats what frightens me. That someone will consider it a challenge and use it just because it's in there." -- George Carlin |

| I think the Browns may be a year away yet from solidifying their o-line. It really depends on how quick Bentley returns to form and how quickly Thomas adjusts to the Browns scheme. If those two things happen then they really look pretty decent all around with Steinbach in the mix. |

There are exponentially more guys at the NFL level that can do what you were impressed by versus what I listed. |

| Have to hand it to Quinn. He looked exceptional in his first preseason start -- without many practices. I still feel like I placed a sucker bet (Brady Quinn for ROY against the field at even odds -- who wouldn't take that bet?), but Quinn's got a shot. |

| It is a huge deal IMAGE to breakdown a players physical gifts. Coming in and having never played a down of NFL football - it is the barometer to success - that is until Brady actually begins to take snaps in games this season. I really think Crennel will have more to do with this than Quinn himself. He didn't like the kid holding out and probably will make him wait to start. |

Dman, I never insinuated he wasn't physically gifted. All I am saying is that throwing up 300+ bench and running a 4.5 40 doesn't automatically translated into the next Peyton Manning. There have been an incredible amount of physically gifted athletes at QB in the NFL that have failed to translate into high caliber talent.
So, as you said, we'll wait and see when he starts taking snaps...all I am saying is, I'll be impressed when he is actually putting up numbers that show he's become quality NFL talent.
