Historically speaking I believe the Cubs overall record versus the Cards is still in their favor. It was last I checked in the mid 90's anyway. That being said, St. Louis has garnered how many penants and championships while harboring an overall losing record to the Cubs? |

| cubs are now tied with milwaukee and 3 ahead of the cards. they have to keep winning 2 of 3 or 3 of 4 in each series to stay ahead as the cards appear to be coming on strong. |

nothing like 5 runs in the 9th to seal the victory over the giants. if only they can continue playing like that.
standings remain the same. cubs need to win again tonight. 9:15 start time on wgn. |

Armstrong to sing at Wrigley The Chicago Cubs are going to enjoy a little black-and-gold flavor on Aug. 31, the day before Iowa football team opens its season in Soldier Field in Chicago. Katelyn Thrall of the Cubs front office confirmed that former Iowa basketball player B.J. Armstrong will sing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” during the seventh-inning stretch on Aug. 31. In addition, Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta is scheduled to throw out the first pitch, according to UI Associate Athletics Director Rick Klatt. The Cubs face the Houston Astros at 1:20 p.m. Thousands of Hawkeye fans are expected to be on hand as part of “Chicago Black and Gold Day.” Armstrong, an all-Big Ten guard for the Hawkeyes from 1985 to 1989, and ranks third in career scoring at Iowa with 1,705 points. Armstrong was picked by the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 1989 NBA Draft, and won three titles with the Michael Jordan-led Bulls. The University of Iowa has sold 30,000 tickets to Hawkeye fans for the season-opener in Chicago. Iowa faces Northern Illinois at 2:30 p.m. at Soldier Field. Black and Gold, what a beautiful sight!!!!!! |

| the cubs are a game and a half ahead of the brewers going into this week's series. taking 2 out of 3 would be nice. the cards have now closed the gap to 2 games behind. a much needed soriano will be back in the lineup. |

After acknowledging that he was desperate, Dwight said "people will resort to saying things they know aren't true when they are desperate." That about sums it up! |
