I'll LOL if St. Louis sneaks in again and wins this division.

I don't see anyone from that division doing much in post-season anyway.

Then again, egami, nobody saw anyone from that division doing much in the postseason last year and look what happened.
Nice to see the Rockies come back and preserve a split over the weekend to go 5-2 against Milwaukee and Chicago for the week.
Didn't think it would happen, but here they are, only two games out of the wild card in the middle of August.

"Perhaps the worst thing that can happen is to reach into the refrigerator and come out with something that you cannot identify at all. You literally do not know what it is. Could be meat, could be cake. Usually, at a time like that, I'll bluff. "Honey, is this good?" "Well, what is it?" "I don't know. I've never seen anything like it. It looks like...meatcake!" "Well, smell it." (snort, sniff) "It has absolutely no smell whatsoever!" "It's good! Put it back! Somebody is saving it. It'll turn up in something." Thats what frightens me. That someone will consider it a challenge and use it just because it's in there." -- George Carlin

I am not saying it's impossible, but then again the NL Central was a bit stronger at this point last year than it is now too.

And let's face it...there is a reason no one thought that last season. Because last season was the exception, not the rule.

Betting against the scenario will win far more times than it loses. But, anytime you get an experienced coach in the playoffs with a moderately healthy and talented team you have to watch them.

Injuries aren't helping, either.
The Brewers have to get Ben Sheets back if they're going to do anything.
Likewise with the Cubs and Soriano.

Yeah, the Cubs will really miss Sore-iano while he is out. Most of all, I'll miss watching Pie at the I-Cubs games.

And, looking at the box score, it doesn't look like Wood is quite up to speed yet. Be interesting to see where he is after a few appearances.

Wood definitely isn't there yet.
The velocity was down and he got into trouble with a lack of control. Both in walking the opposition and throwing breaking balls that didn't break like they were supposed to.

Yeah, it looked like his strike/ball ratio was horrendous.

wood doesn't have anything back yet from what i can tell. hopefully he'll regain something. as far as the cards go the cubs will take care of them in a few days.

I wonder if Greg Anderson is available. I hear he can do wonders with baseball players.

Cubs have lost 3 in row. Do they have enough for the stretch run?

How bout the Orioles whipping the Yanks in New York last nite 12-0.

They are playing things right.

I can just see it now though...Cubs lead up until the end then the Cards sneak up and take it over in the last week.

The way the teams at the top are playing, even the Pirates and Reds aren't quite out of it yet.

the cards will have to figure out how to beat the cubs before they can sneak past them.
